New Blood Test For Ibs?

Hey all, so when I went to see my gastro the other day, and I proceeded to tell her that a diagnosis of IBS, is just way too easy, and that ive seen a lot of doctors, why hadn't any of them figured that out by now. SO she told me that there is this new blood test they do, to tell you if you are positive or negative for IBS. I had my blood drawn and was told the results would be back soon, but they can take awhile. Has anyone else had this done? I guess it has only been out for 3 months. I had my blood drawn today to test for Celiac, since I guess I was never tested, but did have negative biopsies. However only 3 biopsies were taken when I had my endoscopy. Also, is Monosodium Glutamate gluten free? Or is it not. Does anyone have a list, just a regular list of things that contain gluten? I need some sort of list so that I can know how to read the labels. Im just so confused. I have yet to see a nutritionist, but am hoping someone out there might have some lists. Also lists of brand name items that are gluten free. One more thing, does anyone else sneeze when eating gluten? Seems like when it hits my mouth I sneeze non stop. If anyone could help me with this id greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

IBS is not a diagnosis. It is a set of symptoms and a label given when they don't know what is giving you those symptoms. Pretty much all celiacs that have GI symptoms could be classified as having "IBS". You shoudl really get a copy of the tests they did to see what was tested for.

MSG is gluten free. Some people have trouble with it for non-gluten related reasons.

Here is a list of unsafe ingredients:

There is also a safe ingredient list you can see linked at the top of that page.

I'd bet a car that there is no blood test for IBS. I think she was flustered you were advocating foryourself (yay!) and tried to placate you. :(
