  1. I saw that headline and didn't bother reading it, but I think it's hilarious coming from someone in Texas. Land of "lets shut down our state for more than a week over some ice" state. HAH! Admittedly though, back in PA where I grew up my brother was complaining recently about school closures. They actually closed school over a dusting. As in less than...
  2. Shhhh..... I was thinking a small amount, which won't be so bad. Especially if I don't do something stupid like get out that block of parm to shave some off on my bread.
  3. I really feel like fresh bread, but have mildly less energy than I estimate a half dead sloth does. So I'm just going to throw together a pan of flatbread, maybe with some rosemary or something in it. If I can find any further ambition I'll have something with my flatbread. If not, maybe I'll just open a jar of spaghetti sauce for dipping or a can of roasted...
  4. Some people seem to have some really serious licking the spatula issues whenever baking no matter how bad they know it is. Not going to point any fingers or anything.
  5. Since your own mother cooks, it isn't surprising that it was easy for her to take this on. With your in-laws seeming not being the type of people who are comfortable taking care of themselves in their own kitchen, it isn't the least bit surprising that they don't want to take on risks for someone else and their health. I wonder how involved you have been...
  6. Apparently glaring at a sick husband does not provide adequate protection from illness. On a bright note though, the library texted me today to let me know that it's my turn to borrow Fahrenheit 451 which is one of my favorite ever books. So I went and picked it up to keep me busy for the weekend. I'm not coughing too much yet so hopefully I didn't infect...
  7. I've been looking for these but can't find them yet. Snyder's are my favorite pretzels! Even my husband prefers them to regular ones. Their honey mustard used to be one of my favorite snacks before being diagnosed so I'm very excited about getting my hands on a bag.
  8. The amazing thing about doing fun things, is that while they do nothing to stop the pain, or prevent the pain, and can even make the pain worse, while doing them they take your mind off of the pain. For me, I have pain even while sitting in one of my legs. I'm also a gamer. When I get engrossed in a good game I can forget how much pain I am in. But when I...
  9. I live every day in pain. Sometimes it is bad, sometimes not so much. It is much improved on a gluten free diet since my diagnosis but it isn't better enough to live a normal life yet. It is possible that someone would accuse me of using my pain to not do things I don't want to do. There isn't just pain, pain makes you tired. It is exhausting beyond what...
  10. I haven't even brought up testing with my new doc. I suppose maybe I will at some point if I feel like I need to, but for now I don't see a point. If my neuro stuff doesn't pan out to a definitive conclusion I suppose I will need to pursue testing but until then I'm just rolling with treating.
  11. Poor Mui has never minded shots. He's always good at the vet, was fine for getting blood drawn by them and letting them stab a needle straight into his bladder. He doesn't care if someone grabs his neck and stabs him with a needle. He just does not. like. his. ears. touched. Although admittedly, I do think my husband was being a little bit teensy bit nervous...
  12. There are lots of ways to treat endo if it turns out you have it. It can cause pain in really weird places. I end up spending 1-2 days a month in bed feeling sorry for myself in pain. At least once a year it's so bad I can literally not walk for at least half a day. I used hormone birth control for a long time as treatment and it was quite effective....
  13. It's totally true, she's kinda a freak. I bought a lot of duds and a lot of winners. Just accept that it'll be different and try to enjoy it for what it is instead of what it's trying to replicate and you may find an easier time enjoying things. That was the key for me. And remember to keep your sense of humor or you'll end up crazy. Or you may anyway...
  14. It is hilarious now. Not so hilarious at the time. It's snowing! I wanted snow for my birthday and it's three days late.
  15. I once worked third shift in a grocery store with an older gentleman and it was just the two of us for the whole store. We were expected to cashier and man the deli. I watched him slice off the tip of his finger in the deli one night, so I know the danger. I also worked in a steakhouse once and we used those giant things to cube whole heads of lettuce at...
  16. This cracked me up and my husband asked what I was laughing at. So I repeated this to him exactly as it is says. (Hey, us PA rednecks tawk like that too!) He's like the what? Crick? He was just all ..... LOL! Hope it gets done on schedule! It didn't have the decency to snow for my birthday, but it's snowing today. The day that I'm working in the evening...
  17. I keep Vicks Nature Fusion on hand in the winter, liquid not pills. I don't do well with pills in the best of times, I can't imagine swallowing some with a sore throat. I also like Halls cough drops. I keep a nice stock of a variety of flavors so I don't get in a rut. Other than that, I always have herbal teas in the house and drink plenty of them...
  18. Oh, I already have mine picked out! I have for years now. For a long time the biggest issue was that my ataxia was so bad that I probably would have taken off the end of a finger. Now though, I think I'll be fine. I also realize it is something I'll use at least 4 or 5 times a week if not every day. But when it comes to parting my man with his wallet......
  19. I think it's linked to being a woman. I don't know, I've never seen any such thing, but I'm not saying it isn't true. I have endometriosis and have had problems since I was a teenager. I'll be laid out for a day or two every month, sometimes barely able to walk and always unable to stand straight because of the pain.
  20. We once had a surprise "spa day" when my husband went in to use the bathroom while she was in there and he forgot to put the lid down. Guess who went for a swim? We both bolted for the bathroom when we heard a splash and were horrified to find her in the toilet! Hubs left the lid up, he got to bathe her. (I still can't even think about it without cracking...
  21. Oh... also, he can't have dry food any more. And even if he could there is pretty much a snowball's chance in hell we'd pay that much for pet food. It should be way cheaper though, and if needed I can always just cook for him. It's just meat meat meat, he's a cat not a dog so it's way easier.
  22. Yeah. Amazingly delicious things made of wine and parm are not on my "often" list! It will definitely be on my anniversary list and birthday list every year though because pain be damned, it was so worth it. I really think my stupid IIH and histamine crap play off each other and the capers and lemon? Yeah, both tyramine things I shouldn't be having so the...
  23. I've mostly be lingering and watching. But I thought I'd just poke my nose in and say that I have this issue too. It took months of being beat over the head with the obvious before I admitted it, mostly because I'm stubborn and it was a third entire group of foods to eliminate and I was very resistant. It made a world of difference for me though. Honestly...
  24. It's sweet & sour pork night. We only used a little of the sauce and it needs to get used up so alas... we must have this meal forced on us again. The absolute horror! It'll be a nice treat and a good way to end the day. We had horrible news today after a vet visit. As if we don't have enough problems to deal with already with my health issues and...
  25. The Kirkland people are really awesome at answering questions. I would just give them a call at whatever number is listed on the bottle.
