  1. I made that first appointment because I wanted more answers about the study than I could get on the phone and all the first appointment is, is trading of information. You'll get all of your questions answered and if you agree to begin they want a bunch of your info. I will say that since it's the same company or whatever, if they are dong the same study...
  2. If you're binging on weekends, you don't need to eat gluten every weekday to get tested, you could just do it now. Eating gluten free weekdays and binging weekends isn't gluten free and is probably why you still feel like crap. Many people never get a formal diagnosis but if you know that it makes you feel like crap you have two options. You can either go...
  3. They can answer all of your questions at the first appointment. You don't actually DO anything at the first appointment other than let them have some blood if you agree to it, and you do of course reserve the right to back out at any time. (And for the love of God make the appointment in the morning, they'll make you fast and you'll be ready to gnaw your...
  4. I have celiac. It is part of who I am, it does not define who I am. I have toyed with the idea of jewelry, but what I want far exceeds my income level and so I don't get it. (Pandora bracelets are expensive!) When I wear clothes (mostly tshirts) that identify who I am to the world, I am first and foremost a geek/gamer and after that a brony. I am far more...
  5. You crack me up. It's supposed to be a winter wonderland this close to Christmas! Can't you feel the magic and wonder?
  6. We got a little more snow yesterday. Just a dusting really, there wasn't even an inch to clean off my Jeep this morning. I think we'll have a white Christmas here!
  7. I'd like to point out that I'm the one who is in the best company on this. I don't think anyone is going to dispute who has the best taste around here, and it's just chance that I happen to be on board with her on this one.
  8. If you email Breton they'll tell you where you can buy them locally. They boxes aren't huge, there are only 720 calories if you inhale the whole box which totally leaves room for a whole other meal and maybe even gelato. Not that I have a box on my desk or anything.
  9. I used Rudi's stuffing this year for Thanksgiving and made the second recipe on the list, the Laura's whatever. The apple in it seemed a little weird when I was making it, but I did it anyway and it turned out perfect. Of course, you have to find Rudi's stuffing, which I found in all of my local health food stores, but none of the regular grocery stores....
  10. We had lemon pepper chicken breasts, baked potatoes in the microwave (because I forgot to put wedges in the oven in time, oops) and brown sugar baby carrots. All finished off with the usual late nightcap of cocoa. My husband found a divine mix for me that is caramel mocha that I'm just totally in love with. It's nice on the nights I don't feel like making...
  11. I guess I could add that I also do like Crunchmaster crackers. They're good, they're just not my favorite.
  12. My husband keeps asking for a cracker if I eat them while he's home. I always act like I'm terribly put out when I give him one.
  13. Breton. BRETON!!!! Omg... they're just like regular, gluteny crackers. Either flavor is awesome, but right now the only flavor I can get locally is the herb ones. I have had a chance to try the flax ones though and they are equally awesome. Great, now I have to open a new box because I finished one yesterday. I'm going to get so fat since they started...
  14. The rice milk from Costco was gluten free last I called to check on it.
  15. There are many generic manufacturers of topiramate. You will want to ask your pharmacy what brand they will fill your prescription with and then call the company to ask if is gluten free. If you're doing a ramp up period, you'll want to remember to check both doses, both the smaller dose and the regular dose you'll be taking since the information for them...
  16. Nearly every ham I have ever checked has been gluten free. The few exceptions have been ones that come with some sort of glaze already on them, although many of those are also gluten free.
  17. The viking culture has always fascinated me greatly, and because of my ancestry I have taken time to study it. The vikings were also Germanic, so you very well could be! They were tribal, but the amount of land that they held is just positively mind blowing. If you ever have some spare time, spend some time getting some books at your local library. Also,...
  18. Some stores (most in my area) will discount fresh meats when they are "near" to their sell by dates. If you find out what time of day this gets done you can stop in and make some really great scores. I do this frequently, and can afford to stop in 2 or 3 times a week as 2 of these stores are within a mile of my house. The other major thing I did for my...
  19. Open Original Shared Link I'm so glad I've adopted the policy of putting footers in my recipes that tells me where they come from! The video is helpful for making them the first time. I would be much happier with 5 or 6 rather than 4 bagels out of it, they're HUGE! And yes, they're chewy and very much a bagel. They aren't exactly what you remember, but...
  20. There is a recipe floating around that I have at home on my computer that is positively amazing. It's from a website somewhere that I could link, if I can find the recipe with the note at the bottom that tells me where I got it. You can (of course) turn it into whatever kind of bagel you want. I have never seen bagels other than plain and cinnamon raisin...
  21. My memory isn't what it used to be, but when I last heard Dr. Fasano talk about genetic tests and celiac and NCGI he did not mention any such genes. If anyone would know about them, he would right? I'm sure this may be an unpopular opinion around here but maybe the problem was the gallbladder the whole time? Maybe wheat and/or gluten aren't and never...
  22. I had the good sense to agree to work today without checking the weather reports. We've got a lovely inversion going on which meant that by the time I got to work I was gasping for air and all I could taste was dust and exhaust in the back of my throat. It eased up inside but I have to look forward to the trip home. I always forget about this part of winter...
  23. I was disappointed myself that their pizza was deemed unsafe for celiacs. Mostly because when they first announced it, before I saw that, I was familiar with Dominos because of having worked in one. I thought that since they don't work with any flour in the stores at all, if they simply had a small amount of toppings set aside as gluten free and a small prep...
  24. My husband decided that he wanted those pancakes for breakfast, so now I have to actually make dinner. Tonight is chili night. He's coming home late and it'll be cold. Plus I want something that will be truly satisfying. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon and they want me to fast before I go so getting a good meal tonight will count for a lot. I'm also...
