  1. I was also undiagnosed while pregnant. I think that had nothing to do with the fact that the first time I was sick for 9 straight months, morning, noon and night. I lost enough weight to freak my doctor out before I started to gain. The second time I had heartburn so bad through the second half that I may as well have been drinking acid, I felt like my throat...
  2. At least you didn't have to go another night suffering as a mere mortal with mortal food. Tonight is our "eat whatever you want night" that lets my husband eat something gluteny and I can eat something he won't like. I don't know what I'll throw together, but whatever it is it'll be simple. Whatever could go wrong today, did. At this rate I'll be surprised...
  3. My dad has hunted (successfully) buffalo, elk, bear, moose and countless deer. I think he's done turkey and other fowl but I'm not totally sure. He's probably hunted more things that I don't know about. He got his buffalo in Utah and I know he hunted something in Canada. (His elk maybe?) When I told him I was hosting my first Christmas dinner ever, he told...
  4. I'm pretty sure you can eat whatever you want to with your hands. They can't stop you from putting whatever you want in your car and driving somewhere with it. I'm having the kind of day where anything that can go wrong, has gone wrong... so my opinion right now? I would call to tell them that you're all out of $#&@! to give about family or holidays...
  5. Bambi? Or Bambi's mom? Either way sounds delicious! I still haven't caught on to when hunting season is in Utah, it's just really early here. I do know it starts the Monday after Thanksgiving in PA. I'm not sure if it's an official or unofficial state holiday, but I do know the first day of deer pretty much everything shuts down because ain't no one showing...
  6. Birthday creme brulee? One of the few things I would take over a red velvet cake. Sounds divine, enjoy!
  7. I would just pick a good loocking (to me) recipe from someone with a reputation for Southern cooking. Usually it gets made with heavy cream, so using a generic milk substitute just won't be rich enough. (imo) I think it would be different in a good and exciting way, although I'm sure not everyone would agree with me. But then, I don't keep canned coconut...
  8. I'll bet creamed corn would be divine with coconut milk. The canned kind, not the kind you buy for cereal or regular drinking. If you do eggs you can do deviled eggs with the veggies. They're super easy. Best Foods (Hellman's back east) has a good soy free mayo that I like that doesn't cost both arms like the stuff at the health food store.
  9. What time should I be there?
  10. This is going to sounds stupid, but I wouldn't mind a little snow right now. It feels warmer with snow than it does with cold and rain.
  11. Well, I thought I was trying to be helpful. It didn't dawn on me about the chewable thing, but it should have. I've run into that in the past. Apparently it would be the most difficult thing in the world to make a chewable pill out of anything besides wheat.
  12. We've got cold and wet, but no snow. It's been drizzly and chilly for a few days and it looks to keep up with the same nonsense, only getting outright cold. Today it won't get much above 40, if it hits that at all. I'm fine with 40 in the sun but with drizzles? It's outright frigid! After I do a second kidney bean trial if things go well I'll officially have...
  13. Oh duh! Is there a generic for what you're taking now? Like, different from the one you tried already? I take Topiramate, a generic, and when the pharmacy I was using switched manufacturers I realized that the one they switched to didn't work. It flat out was not effective any more. But when I found a pharmacy that had the manufacturer that I had been getting...
  14. Sorry. Hopefully your doctor can be helpful in a hurry! I used birth control for non-birth control reasons myself. It can be frustrating because sometimes doctors don't think that if you're out that it's urgent for you to get the situation taken care of immediately. I hope your doctor isn't that daft. Have you looked into the generics for whatever the...
  15. I don't know if it's an option for you, but have you considered patches or shots? You don't have to worry about gluten content with either. Unfortunately, I eventually found out that I can't take hormone anything because it causes raging migraines. (fun! and totally unrelated to celiac anything) But I was quite happy getting shots before I had to stop. Plus...
  16. I've been so good planning meals. For something like 3 or 4 weeks now I've had stuff written on my whiteboard calender. But I managed to not have anything down after last night. I suppose since I need to go to the store this afternoon, which includes Costco that maybe we'll end up with a rotisserie chicken. If not, I'll probably just pop open a jar of George...
  17. Not that I should, but I'm feeling crappy and want comfort food so I made some mac & cheese. I never mastered making less than a whole casserole dish of it so I'll probably freeze a good amount of it. I just wanted some tonight. I also pulled out a pack of the pulled pork from the freezer and we had some sandwiches. I'll finish the night with some hot...
  18. Insane for now. That's only going to last until the first time you try gelato then you'll blame everyone for making you fat!
  19. Open Original Shared Link Lots of cool stuff from these guys! I mostly love the bunny pepper grinders though.
  20. I remember when you made that whole post worried about your mom. I hope you can help her without her getting terribly upset about stuff. I never realized they made those silicone thingers as just squares and not mitts. I hate oven mitts, but my husband loves them. I always manage to drop things when I use them. If I can just get little square ones though...
  21. My SIL shared this today on facebook. I'm super excited to try it soon, probably this weekend. I don't know why I never thought of roasting cabbage before, I roast everything else! Garlic Rubbed Roasted Cabbage Steaks If you love cabbage, you are going to freak out about how good this is. Now, if you are on the fence about cabbage, you need to try this...
  22. I'm a little late to the party. FWIW I'm a 3/5 missing a blood and gene test. I am diagnosed, and it happened very weirdly, but I have always been curious about which genes I have. Now that I have actual, real, non-total-crap insurance (yay! & ty husband!) I am going to find out if I can make them pay for it to satisfy my curiosity. Just because. If not...
  23. Last night I made Mexican rice, ancho potato wedges for my husband because he doesn't do tomatoes unless they're on pasta, and quesadillas. We'll repeat tonight. I usually just dice up chicken breasts but last night I was like screw it, poached them and threw them in my KichenAid to shred them. Apparently 2 shredded chicken breasts are somehow twice as much...
  24. GAH! Not only do I have my own, but I launder them frequently due to using them to pull out oven racks that sometimes get pizzas slid right onto them. Live, learn. I need to replace my cutting boards, they're looking a bit worn. I usually just grab a pack of the flexible ones. They're cheap and if something happens I can toss them without blinking...
  25. I would never consider sharing half a toaster. That is (imo) positively insane! I have a lovely 2 slot, 4 piece toaster and while I only use one slot the entire top of it is covered in crumbs. THE ENTIRE TOP! Which means that if anyone were using the other half for gluten bread half those crumbs would be poison. I think people just don't realize how positively...
