  1. LOL! I was also thinking all sorts of inappropriate things when I read that.
  2. I've got nothing against vegans/vegetarians, but now we know what to do the next time one goes all militant on us.
  3. The gateway meat? Bwahahahaha!
  4. If you're the kind of person who counts the good deeds you do, this totally counts. Some days, the fact that you made it through without committing homicide is a good deed. Quite easily rectified. I'm sure there are more than enough of us willing to help with that.
  5. I think I'm going to have some squash tonight with my burgers. I'll probably yank a pack of cookies out of the freezer too for a snack or something later. I sort of feel like I should be all jumping on this whole new year, try some new diet thing but frankly I'm scared to try anything until I'm done testing all my tyramine foods to see what bothers me...
  6. WOOOO!!!! I'm waiting until I'm free to eat bacon to make some. I know I could just make it and refrain from eating it. I know that in theory I have the willpower to refrain, after all I've made it this far with all this other crap. But I'm also honest with myself, I'll tell myself to double up my topamax and dig in and probably still end up half blind. ...
  7. My Grandmother keeps saltines and Ritz in her house. She also keeps a jar with Milky Way which are my grandfather's weakness, but they're the teensy little ones and they maybe go through a bag 2 or 3 times a year and only because the "kids" (meaning grown grandkids or smaller great grandkids) are getting into them. Soda in cans is kept around for upset stomachs...
  8. Can pronounce all those. I took a chem class a year ahead of schedule in high school, we were informed the first day it would be graded on a curve. I um... ruined that for everyone else and was "responsible" for more than one person failing the class. Best teacher, best class, I loved that guy. He wore a bow tie too. Damn shame it was his last year teaching...
  9. I was pretty geeky growing up and have become more so now. I am sort of the mother of a chemist. Okay... so she is a few months from finishing high school and heading off to college but she knows what her plans are. At any rate, I can pronounce some pretty "unpronounceable" things. I guess I get to eat more stuff than a lot of other people.
  10. Happy New Year!! I don't exactly celebrate and I have 5 more hours of this year staring me down. I'm saving up all my energy for this weekend, I don't need to wear myself out with parties tonight. We just had a little pizza and we'll probably watch some bad TV. Best of luck with that whole skiing thing. I shudder at the thought of that much time...
  11. Have wine. If you drink enough you won't remember and if you don't remember the calories don't count!
  12. You know Irish, the solution to tight pants is to stay home and in jammies. If you aren't wearing pants, they won't be tight! Happy Anniversary!!! Or um, whatever you're calling it tonight. Sounds lovely. We're following through on our burgers plan tonight. I'll make some arepas and if everything goes as planned they'll come out of the oven just...
  13. What is wrong with plan BBB? You can weave bacon into a breadlike substitute, then just put bacon in the middle. Bam, BBB sandwich! This covers everything except for those of us who aren't supposed to be eating bacon. I love the avocado idea! I can eat tomatoes but I may just try that for fun one day when I trial avocados. Sounds yummy but I do so hate...
  14. I went to the store for meat to make burgers and got totally distracted by Aidell's sausages marked down. Burgers got pushed back to tomorrow. Tonight we had some Italian sausages and a little pasta and sauce. I attempted to force my husband to eat Classico sauce, I even pureed it so it wouldn't be chunky. Didn't work out particularly well. I keep crossing...
  15. Having looked at pictures of both, and having quite an unhealthy affinity for fried foods, I vote frying. The pictures look divine! I didn't know such a thing exists, now I want some. My plan was burgers on arepas. I'm sort of rethinking that now.
  16. Yes, yes it could. This is what happens when you put a bunch of us girls together! And yes, weird traditions are by far the best. If they make other people look at you kind of funny and question your sanity, you are definitely doing it right!
  17. Some people have such weird traditions. I'm assuming you still have electricity tonight to cook Fred the Lasagne? Hopefully it stays that way for you!
  18. Encore George. What exactly is Encore George? Well, every year we name our ham (or turkey for Thanksgiving) and this year we named him George. Before bed I'll have my stock finished and the rest of George will be canned to be parsed out through the remainder of the year. Also, I think I just made my husband feel bad. I'm all about lemon or lime, not...
  19. I wish I had remembered candied bacon! I used just a few slices in my cornbread pudding and had a bunch leftover and just cooked some for my husband. Normal, regular, frying in a pan. Obviously I'm a terrible wife, feeding my man ordinary bacon on Christmas. I'm glad your men were happy. Mine seemed happy just to have a hot breakfast, that doesn't happen...
  20. Snow I will take. We got another half a foot so far today and it is still coming down out there. The idea of hurtling myself down a mountain in the freezing cold? Pass. I will sip some cocoa and think of you though! You're a riot! I'm a little slow tonight so I had to reread that to get it. I've polished off half a bottle of non-alcoholic sangria...
  21. Some people have a one track mind. I got some! We have half a foot of fresh snow and it is awesome. I hope everyone who got some is staying safe and warm today. I felt a little stupid not having orange sugar for the orange cookies, but I bought what was available. You know, they're just the cookies out of the back of the December Living Without. I...
  22. Done baking in plenty of time to rest up, clean the kitchen and make some dinner later. I'm just about ready to crawl back into some toasty warm jammies. I have more snow on order and want my pants to still fit at the end of the week so anyone who wants to come help me eat all these cookies is more than welcome to! I've got ginger snaps and orange cream filled...
  23. First kind of cookies, done! I may have eating a half dozen or so while they were still dough. Getting done in time with all my cookies so I can cook supper is not looking good. Especially since I can't be on my feet too long at once without terrible cramping so I need frequent breaks to let my legs rest. Oh well, I guess we're having cookies for supper...
  24. My cookies still have not made themselves. Turns out though that today is a perfect Christmas Eve. It is snowing lightly, I have a few errands to run, but nothing urgent. I'll get it all done before lunch. Heck, I'm still in my jammies at my computer at 9:30. Before dinner I'll have the counter covered in fresh baked cookies, the yard will have a few...
