The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat

I had pot roast tonight too. I had a roast (not pot roast though ) two nights ago. If it is a condition I have it pretty bad. I hope there is no cure and I am okay with it worsening over time. I had a baked potato and carrots with mine. Slathered that tater with fresh butter from raw milk. Slathered everything else in copious amounts of gravy. Following... -

Too tired to cook, barely functioning since coming off my steroids. Just threw a roast in the oven with some taters and baby carrots. I figure for 10 minutes worth of effort I'll have dinner, lunch and dinner again if I can find the effort to use the microwave and wash some dishes. Everything is accompanied with some ginger ale and bitters to be able to keep... -

Milk is complicated for me right now because of iodine. I found an organic farm that sells whole raw milk I can safely have. The issue is I'm jumping from 2% to full fat milk so it's a calorie increase so I'm worried about my new jeans staying a good fit! I'll figure it out. Supper was super yummy. MMMMM!!!!!! Bacon!! I can't wait to start having bacon... -

Wednesday when I was trolling around I noticed no one had posted for THREE WHOLE DAYS!!!. I was like, this would never have been allowed to happen if love2travel was home. We're all happy to have you back! Tonight I used up all my energy making butter, so just leftover pork and apple cole slaw. Well, I suppose that's half a lie about how I used up all... -

Tonight is pulled pork on arepas. I'm sure I'll think of a vegetable between now and supper. Or mabye not, I don't really feel like cooking and I already have to make the arepas. They're made of corn, that counts as a vegetable right? I need to hit the store this afternoon and see if there is any milk left and maybe I'll just have a little tomato soup with... -

I spent my whole weekend whining about how I was going to starve to death. I think I'm over my temper tantrum now that I've called a half a billion dairies and found milk. Tonight was brown sugar baked acorn sqaush, fried potatoes with rosemary and honey balsalmic vinagrette chicken breasts with a nettle tea latte. Iodine? Who needs the crap? -

I just didn't feel like doing anything today and my husband wanted pizza so it all worked out. We went and picked up a pizza for him somewhere then went somewhere else for me. I had vetted them over the phone previously and kind of just stored the info for later when I finally felt like a pizza. It was a pretty great price for a gluten free pizza, 12 bucks... -

Yesterday I picked up a really nice rack of pork ribs at half price, so that's supper. I got a call rousing me out of bed at the crack of 10 this morning calling me in to sub the afternoon class, which means they'll have exactly enough time all wrapped up cozy in their rub before being baked. I think I have a buttercup squash laying around somewhere to cook... -

Okay, so this won't sound like it all goes together but it's all stuff that sounded good at the time. Mashed squash because apparently my husband just doesn't like it and I just can't get enough. Salads because we need to be eating salads. And pizza burgers. I was going to have a regular old cheeseburger until I was looking in my fridge and saw my fresh mozzarella... -

Since discovering that squash is in fact awesome I am seeing which ones I like best before stocking up for the winter. Tonight is oven roasted delicata with lemon and herb pork tenderloin and I'll either have some mashed taters and gravy or some jasmine rice with it. Since my husband won't go near either of those I think I may force feed him some sweet potato... -

My Venice Bakery crusts finally arrived!!! Okay okay, so I didn't actually order them until last weekend. They shipped Monday and arrived today so it wasn't that awful a wait but I thought I just may die wanting pizza. So, we only got the sample pack of three 5 inch crusts to try them until we were sure we wanted to order more. For the first time in ... -

I always, and I mean always, have some sort of apple-y something with my pork and I was thinking that maybe I needed to not do that. But somehow the apple just is calling to me. I stopped at the garden market on the way home and picked up a beauteous little squash. I'm sending my husband for a haircut and I think I'll have him bring an apple home to add to... -

Last night we had grilled chicken breasts, corn and garlic ranch mashed potatoes. My husband got some pork chops out of the freezer which I suppose is my queue to so something with them for dinner tonight. I had to work today so maybe on my way home I'll see if I can find a nice looking squash to have with them or something. -

Hubs was craving a sandwich so he managed to drag me away from my video game where I was furiously working on my in game cooking. I was gathering stuff to cook. We had to shop to to make sandwiches. I guess I pretty much do the same things in my video game that I do in real life. We made some mac and cheese and ham sandwiches with some Chobani for... -

I ate today! This of course led to a disagreement between my butt and I on how far was safe to travel from the bathroom but for an extremely short period of time there was food in me. I meandered about the store while they were filling my prescription because they have the most horrid chairs there and found some bison for $4 a pound marked down 2 days before... -

That pizza sounds great. I think I'm finally gonna order some Venice crusts this week to try and see how that goes. My husband is a complete jerk. He is making me drink orange juice because it'll help me get better he says. It may as well be battery acid I'm pouring onto the back of my throat. I do feel mildly better though, I'm coughing less and my fever... -

Apparently my no energy Thursday evening turned into feeling like I had razor blades in my throat by bedtime. I took myself off to the doctor on Friday just to make sure it wasn't strep. Nope, just a fun head cold yay! I didn't eat yesterday at all, I was in too much pain to consider putting food against my throat. I found the energy tonight to cook some... -

I wanted to cheat today, I had so much going on. But... with the husband working he expects an actual dinner with the whole cooking thing involved. I semi-cheated. I just pan fried a steak, mashed up the two leftover baked potatoes from Monday and popped open a can of green beans. So pretty much I didn't really cook at all. Throwing a steak in a pan... -

We had company for dinner and after some much appreciated and needed advice we decided to skip offering our company rolls. We toasted enough Rudi's for everyone to have a slice if they liked with dinner. Dinner was a lovely spiral cut ham with a brown sugar dijon glaze, baked potatoes (I was too lazy for mashed), glazed carrots, salad and killer gravy... -

I never heard of that called bannock tacos before. My girlfriend always called it Navajo tacos but I suppose maybe being Navajo gave her a bias? I wish I had taken her up on her offer of learning to make the bread sometime before she moved away, I still kick myself over that one. My caring husband shared his cold with me this weekend so he got to be... -

omg I know! In my Grammy's house it was the normal practice to have a bowl of cereal before bed. This took care of all of the hungrys, thirstys, etc and got people off without a hitch. I may have only spent a night a week there but to this day I always snack before bed and it is commonly cereal. If I go to bed without a snack I'll wake up with my stomach... -

Haha, I always warn my husband. If he wants to stay happily married we need to spend a day or two a month not speaking to each other. Anyway, the pulled pork isn't really a recipe, it's more of a guideline. You need whatever pork roast makes you happy, I tend to buy whatever is cheapest, and some root beer and some BBQ sauce. The root beer is important...
