  1. Yesterday's dinner plans got changed. I had been going through my wallet and found a fully punched card from a local take and bake pizza place. I also was cleaning because some heater vent dude is coming today to clean them. We have like a bazillion heating vents in our space so I couldn't just hide my dirty underwear and call it good. By the time I realized...
  2. Any waffle maker is fine, one won't be different than another for it. Get what you like based on your preference. Some of us have regular and some of us have Belgian style. These are my favorite waffles and great for this time of year, but not my only waffle recipe. I also like to make buckwheat waffles, which aren't something everyone would enjoy. I...
  3. That app isn't available for android. I use mySymptoms though which is. It seems to be pretty similar, although it isn't free. It's $2.99, which isn't a lot to pay and I finally caved with my new phone and got a paid for app for the first time ever. I really like it. And it tracks everything, and I mean everything. Right down to the Bristol scale for your...
  4. I knew when I looked at the list of people that some are complete whackjobs, while some are the best of the best. The only reason I signed up to get the email was because we can pick and choose who to listen to so I can weed out the nuts and just listen to the people who are the kind of people ICDS would let speak. If ICDS would tell them to go walk their...
  5. If it were me, I would fry up 2 or 3 the day before just to make sure they turn out okay. And because who can't use a few donuts the day before a party to get you through the prep.
  6. My Target didn't have them when I went. I'll try again next trip. I consoled myself with a cheeseburger and neapolitan shake and In N Out.
  7. I do this too, for two reasons. I feel like it's plain rude to not order something, so I get a drink and tip appropriately. Second, if I can't treat myself to dinner the place at least usually serves fancy drinks! I can usually find something to drink that's in the $3-5 price range which is still a boatload cheaper than dinner but I still get to feel spoiled...
  8. Not really a conversation, more of an activity. My gluten eating husband's favorite food in the whole whole world is pizza. For his birthday, even though I said we could go anywhere and I'd bring something to eat, we went to a pizza place that has a separate gluten free kitchen to pretty much guarantee a safe pizza. We had never been there before so he didn...
  9. I grease the pan to make the cornmeal stick to it, then dust the pan with the cornmeal. Just enough to coat it. Maybe a little more generous if you're going to be spreading the crust the way gluten free ones usually are. Then slap the crust in/on whatever.
  10. Bahahaha I do that! I just keep grabbing one. It's just one right. Pretty soon I've eaten like a dozen, then more. An hour later I don't even want to see a donut!
  11. You're marrying him right? RIGHT??????
  12. Mom's can be weird. Mine definitely had some, uh, unique ideas about cooking. But omg did she ever make a killer mac & cheese! Which, if she found out I was eating a single serve microwave kind from a box for lunch today she'd disown me. Kinda jealous, I really miss strawberries. I love them lots but they don't love me back.
  13. I buy generic Walgreens brands of ibuprofin. Some have stated on the box that they're gluten free and some I've called about. I've also see the Target ones that say right on the box that they're safe. And while we may not like it, the simple fact is that nearly every pharmaceutical company in existence gives a "lawyer" or CYA response. I've been told...
  14. It's in lots of people's job descriptions. As is getting muffins, coffee, lunch, or doing about a hundred other errands. I do know that this all falls under the heading of administrative assistant. I also have a friend who was in law school and working through his summer as a legal aid and this all fell under his job description too. It's the world of entry...
  15. I don't have Safeway in my area, but I can say that the most effective way to get this information is directly from the company. While it can be helpful to get information online, trusting your health to what is effectively random people on the internet isn't the best course of action. You can email or call them. This will allow you to find out not only about...
  16. I buy them as a mix from Gluten Free Heaven. I do make them as donut holes. The instructions say to roll them out as a snake in sprayed plastic wrap and it works really well, although it takes a little getting used to. Then you just cut them to size and let them raise. They do not keep well, even overnight and I would recommend doing them the same day, and...
  17. When you say that you have trouble finding food that you can eat and afford it sounds like you're shopping the gluten free section of the grocery store. That's the first instinct and first mistake most people make. It's just a bunch of overpriced, nutritionally defunct crap that no one needs and that won't help your body heal or help you feel good. It is...
  18. I'm not knocking this app, it looks awesome. But I'd like to point out for anyone who pokes their nose in here who doesn't have an iphone that there are similarly awesome apps for android people.
  19. I will call Udi's not bad. I've bought a few bags over the past year. It's a bagel. I would trade a 100 of them though for any from an actual bakery if you have a bakery around you.
  20. GAH!!! Yer gonna boil her brain!
  21. I had no idea what you guys were talking about. I had heard of welsh rarebit before but had no clue what it was so I googled it. Alton Brown has a recipe for it. You know... if you're going to go out looking on teh interwebz for a recipe. It sounds delicious!
  22. Tonight we're having breakfast for dinner. Pancakes and sausage. I was thinking about waffles but I'm not sure I'm quite that ambitious, the waffle iron is behind about a million things in a cupboard. Edit: Nevermind, my husband wants pumpkin waffles. Now not only do I have to dig out my waffle iron but I have to actually put on "out of the house" clothes...
  23. From experience I can say that with gluten and soy together that it is pretty restrictive, nearly to the point of whole foods or ridiculously expensive crap no one can afford. Dairy adds a whole other layer to that because what isn't whey in? I'm going to agree though that there is quite a lot you can do with meat, vegetables and the available grains...
  24. If we didn't harass you, how would you know we love you?
  25. Someone, not naming any names or anything... but someone has a very serious internet addiction. Couldn't even make a whole week without sticking their nose in twice.
