ARCHIVED "artificial Flavors", "artificial Colors"
Adalaide replied to SMRI's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maybe that single company never updated after the whole FDA thing? Or maybe they aren't based in the US? Wheat would have to be listed. Malted barley would be listed individually because it's an expensive ingredient they would want to list on the label proudly. Rye? Seriously... what is that ever in that isn't bread? It isn't a "flavor" other than a bread... -

You can all come over for some! My husband was poking fun at me because they didn't have "nooks and crannies" when I split them. But they're light and fluffy and ohmygawd! I don't know if it's that it's been so long or that they're simply wonderful but he even said they were really good so I'm going with option B. Better hurry if you're gonna get here before... -
Usually we have our gripes. It's this or that, and in general it makes life at the very least a bit inconvenient for us. I realized tonight though that sometimes it's a small blessing in disguise. I'm getting ready for comic con this week and they don't allow any outside food... except for people with food allergies, intolerances, etc. So, instead of being...

Aren't these the most beautiful thing in the world? Maybe not having an english muffin in 3 years has simply made me crazy, but the 20 minute wait to pop one open after taking them out of the oven is KILLING ME! -

Wow! English muffins are surprisingly easy to make. Now for the hardest part of making them. Waiting for them to rise. Very hard for someone with the patience of a toddler. Is it time yet? -

Zippers and velcro would melt in the microwave. Or... metal zippers BZZZZTTTT!!!!! Bwahahaha. I've had to walk away from some super adorable flannels because of glitter. But the buckwheat in the pads works just as well as an ice pack as they do for a heating pad. Just keep them in the freezer and microwave them if you want a heating pad! Or I tell people... -
ARCHIVED What Are Your Favorite Go To Dishes For Potlucks?
Adalaide replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'll buy a rotisserie chicken or make fried chicken, both of which are perfectly fine cold or warm. I made cucumber salad for the last one I went to, although that was a gluten-free one that I didn't have to take all my own food. Still, it's something I would take a single serving of. I like marshmallow salad for dessert, my grammy makes it with cream cheese... -

I keep almost setting up an Etsy shop. Especially now that I'm crocheting My Little Pony hats. But shipping for the heating pads is outrageous so I keep talking myself back out of it but I need to buckle down and just do it in the next two weeks while I have a weekend "off" this coming weekend if I can find time. I SOLD OUT of long heating pads today!!!... -
ARCHIVED Salt - Which One Are You Using?
Adalaide replied to emsimms's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I also use Real Salt. It's a rock, mined in Utah (so I also feel good about supporting a local business since I live here), and is simply mined, ground up, and put in a package. The bonus is that it tastes like nothing you've ever had before and once you try it you'll never go back to that crap you call salt now. I'll occasionally have some sea salts in the... -
ARCHIVED Amneal Tramadol
Adalaide replied to Jamie15's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have used other things from that manufacturer in the past and didn't have a problem with them. I use tramadol now as my daily pain med, although from another manufacturer, and I can't imagine any circumstance under which I would pay for a name brand when a safe generic is available. What you were told is the standard CYA statement that nearly all drug manufacturers... -
We're having fish and chips and they get floured then battered. We're having it again in two days and I asked my husband if he wouldn't be too paranoid to keep the flour for two days. He said it was fine since it's all going in the fryer anyway. I said it'll go into the cleansing... fryer. omg I crack me up when I get a good pun in!

Needed to leave the house today, so went to the store for a watermelon as a consolation prize. It'll be a perfect dessert for the night. The weather is delightful. Cloudy, cool, breezy. Couldn't be better. -

They're right, it is good to have you back! Seeing what you're having is always an inspiration to try new and interesting things. A few ears of red corn were ready out in the garden so we'll be adding those to dinner tonight. First picked of the year. It has such an amazing flavor that isn't like any other corn we've ever had (which is why we planted... -

I was rather under the weather for a few days. The weather overnight Friday night was stormy and when I got up Saturday I wasn't even sure if it would clear enough for me to go to the market since I don't use a canopy. But it cleared up enough for me to see blue sky over the lake to the west so I headed down. The weather turned out perfect too! Except that... -
ARCHIVED Rice And Packaging Labels?
Adalaide replied to TammyTE's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Costco is really good about taking products back. There is no reason you wouldn't be able to just take the rice back on your next trip there rather than giving it away and basically giving away all that money. My local Costco also sells Lundburg for a good price (as well as other brands) so it may be worth checking to see if yours has more than one brand... -

Tonight is breakfast for supper. I'll slice off some ham, make eggs, hashbrowns and if I get ambitious there will be pancakes. If not, we'll be satisfied without. I finally managed to find a pair of Rainbow Dash gala dress sandals today, and on sale for $5! Now I have my shoes for my dress and I just have to make my dress for comic con in the spring.... -

I was digging around in the deep freeze out in the garage earlier this week and finally was fed up with the fact that we had another George out there that just keeps getting in the way of me seeing what's out there. So I settled the problem the only sensible way, George thawed in my fridge and I'll cook him for supper tonight. I've got beans ready to pick... -

Nothing looked good and neither of us felt like cooking. My husband was all "I feel like pizza." I was all "I feel like In N Out." So out we went! I always skip the soda and get a neapolitan shake with my meal, then I don't have to decide on a flavor. -

I have hay fever. Really high on my list of bunnies are too cute to matter. Nothing exciting at the store today on sale or cheap. Maybe we'll have wieners for supper. Maybe chicken. Don't know yet. Too soon to really be worried yet.I did pick up a salad at the store and some orange and yellow peppers so whatever else there is there will be salad at least... -
ARCHIVED Nervous About Peru Medical Mission Trip And Food
Adalaide replied to mfalbo's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I don't know much about food from Peru but if it's similar to other countries in South America you may be okay. In Venezuala they make arepas which are delicious and naturally gluten free. I've also seen a wide variety of breads or wraps made with tapioca flour/starch that list various South American countries as their origin. I would say to jump into researching... -

If we had room for another bunny we'd add one. But I just don't have the room, patience or stamina to go through the whole get them to know each other and get along crap to add another. So Freya is an only child. She's probably also a tad overweight. She's a mini lop, I prefer down-eared bunnies but I wasn't prepared for how BIG a mini sized bunny would... -

Went out for gelato. Saw on facebook today that he finished his brownie batter flavor and just for me has it in the same machine with the salted caramel for swirls. We were there an hour after he posted the picture. It was positively heavenly. He was disappointed because one of them wasn't quite frozen to his standard of perfection when it came out so he... -

You can send the rain here and I'll send you our sun. Other people were dashing to their cars last Thursday night to get from the pavilion as dry as possible. I knew I'd be soaked anyway so I just walked through the downpour. I don't mind the rain at all. Everyone probably thought I was a weirdo. Which is fine, cause I kinda am. We're going to the dollar... -

I pulled my first purple carrot out of the ground tonight. It's purple top was showing just at the edge of the dirt so I pulled it because I'm impatient. It's short and stubby, but as fat as could be. I'm sure it'll be delicious. I'll feed it to my husband because he'll at least eat raw carrots so it's a way to feed him veggies and Freya is rather enjoying...
