  1. Got a london broil out of my freezer to thaw for tomorrow. Tonight I'm in the mood for mac & cheese. Nothing I can really thaw quickly so I think we'll just do burgers. Not particularly exciting, but a decent summer supper. I have a container of baby spring mix greens for salads and maybe I'll get out the deep fryer for fries for my husband since he doesn...
  2. We stopped at the store today and I got a chicken for $3! Yay! I roasted it, filled the house with smoke (lol) and enjoyed a lovely dinner. I'm really enjoying my husband having the same two days off every week, it's positively great. Stayed up way too late last night, enjoying a lot of tv last night and tonight and some ice cream. Had some errands today...
  3. Yesterday was awesome. Besides being a great day for business, some vendors got moved around and there was someone new across from me. The husband makes little wooden painted dudes that are sets from movies, tv shows, whatever. He's going to do a TNG set for me to give my husband for his birthday in September. Usually there are 7 in a set, but he's going...
  4. When I was still married to my ex we spent one of our anniversaries at a resort in the Poconos. We had to go through the bar to get to the dining room and one of the mornings the sign said that screwdrivers were the special of the day so I ordered one. My ex told me it was inappropriate. I basically told him to shove it because OJ is a for breakfast so that...
  5. Tonight is chili. Quick and easy. I just finished up a basket liner to put my booboo bunnies in for tomorrow. It's very cute. I'll try to make a few more bunnies tonight while we watch some Dr. Who and eat in front of the tv. My super secret plan is that someone will love the basket and pay a ridiculous price for it. It was a thrift shop find and I paid...
  6. I use oatmeal in meatloaf in place of part of the breadcrumbs I used to use. I've never used any sort of recipe or anything though. Oatmeal and quinoa flakes are similar so I don't see why you couldn't try putting flakes in there. I know it isn't meat, but it's still burgers. Worst case scenario they turn out poorly, it won't be the first or last time that...
  7. I don't have any helpful advice, and know nothing about coding or programing or any of that. But this year I made a resolution to better myself in some way. My husband got my kitchen knives for Christmas and I have spent some time watching videos and reading, trying to learn to use them more appropriately. I picked up a gardening/farming book at the library...
  8. I've always struggled with my weight. I realize now that it has probably been because of celiac. I would lose for seemingly no reason, and gain for seemingly no reason. When I was diagnosed I wasn't far from 250. When I went to the InstaCare last Saturday I was 212. All I'm doing is eating responsible portions and being as physically active as my CRPS allows...
  9. This is the part that I was thinking was the being treated horribly. I really don't know what can be done about it, but it isn't right. I guess I wouldn't give it too much thought around here. I have choices in urgent care centers. There are 3 I could go to, 2 from the same organization and the last associated with the clinic my doctor is part of. I forget...
  10. After the first time I had a gluten-free pizza from Costco they didn't have any more for a couple months, but I kept checking every time we went. Finally one afternoon we went around the corner and I saw them immediately halfway up the aisle. I yelled "ohmygawd pizza!!!" and sprinted to them and grabbed one out of the freezer. People were looking at me funny...
  11. This is probably why my husband won't let me have my mandoline. He says crap about how they're not safe blah blah blah. I'm like they're fine, as long as you follow the instructions and use them properly. I'll probalby promptly slice the end of a finger off when I finally get one. Tonight will be leftover pork roast. We didn't get our potatoes last...
  12. Ah yes, that's something else we have to be on top of. And it has to be checked before you pay for your meds because they can't take them back. Every time I refill I stand there and ask them to verify the manufacturer to me. I also call the manufacturers of the drugs I take regularly every year on my celiac birthday just to make sure they're still gluten...
  13. There isn't anything a doctor can do about your meds. Yes, celiac is an important part of our medical record but it just isn't always something that is important or relevant to a situation. The doctor will prescribe what he needs to and that's all they can do. It is up to us, as individuals, to make sure we are getting gluten free medications. Some work with...
  14. My husband and I were goofing off, he did something only he found amusing and said "I'm funny." I agreed with him, gave it a few seconds then added "but looks aren't everything." Sometimes I crack myself up.
  15. I agree with this. I've looked at some of those paid sites and it's just a bunch of stuff I have no interest in making or eating most of the time. When I get organized enough to make an actual meal plan (which happens for a few weeks at a time, two or three times a year) I just check my freezer, fridge and pantry, check the sales at the stores and decide...
  16. I got those awesome new kitchen knives from my husband for Christmas. Since then I've used them probably every day and everything has gone well, even though they're probably sharp enough to cut to the bone in a blink. Well... until tonight. I knew it would eventually happen. I was cutting our roast for dinner, using a knife that's long and skinny and with...
  17. I was in the ER on Saturday. The doc was trying to decide if I had serotonin syndrome or that nasty bug that's been going around here too. Apparently it just makes people sick as dogs, nauseous, maybe vomiting, some D, feeling generally off, headaches. They said it's pretty awful and is landing lots of people in the ER and lasts about a week or so. Sounded...
  18. Bees? Not a fan unless they're making me sweet, sweet honey.
  19. We find stuffed giraffes with the stuffed animals at the thrift shops. We have Savers and DI here. Back home we had Salvation Army. Those types of stores. I also picked up 3 baskets to make liners for at $1 a piece. I have a real thing for baskets. I'm super excited. I may have to start using them for my giraffes because my baby cradle (the one my dad made...
  20. I have a pork roast thawing that may be ready today. If it isn't we'll have chili. If it is, I'll make fried garlic green beans, ancho chili tater wedges and of coarse... rotisserie the roast. I like a garlic rosemary rub. I went put today and got some fabric for basket liners for $1 a yard! Yay!!! And I'm gonna go pick up a DDR dance pad for $5. I've been...
  21. Gratz!!! I love working for myself. I set my own hours and "show up" (which means walking to another room) to work most days in jammies. Things I wouldn't get the mail in. So liberating. Enjoy! Great deals today. I picked up a few baskets to make liners for. Found 3 new stuffed giraffes to add to my giraffe sanctuary in the bedroom. Got two new cast...
  22. I'm glad I'm such a source of amusement. I have no idea what is for supper, but it's date day. We're going to the $1 theater today to see Divergent and getting gelato. Plus we're running a few errands down to Provo and I think we may stop and treasure hunt at the thrift shops, dollar stores and pawn shops. Gonna be an awesome day.
  23. I agree that barring apnea, which you should definitely treat immediately, treating for anything else doesn't need to happen right away. Treating apnea is easy, my husband has it and it isn't as awful as rumors make it sound. Waiting to see if things get better gluten free is a good idea since it seems to help a lot of people. I'm a rare duck, 1.5 years and...
  24. Nothing about this employees statement could be taken as a compliment. It is insulting and rude. You can refer to my signature to see approximately how I would respond.
