  1. I feel like I've had mine maybe a year or so, so I can't speak for how well it lasts. But I've always been happy with the brand which was why I was confident buying it. The George Foreman with the removable plates is so much more expensive and I refused to waste money on one without them because they're a pita to clean. Been there, done that, never again...
  2. Yeah, it has a grease catcher. It isn't quite as awesome as it could be if something is SUPER greasy. But as long as things are only sort of greasy it works well. It's just a little black thing that slides in on the bottom. The trick is, and this is important, it only works if you remember to slide it in before you start cooking. Not that I have experience...
  3. I got a Cuisinart grill instead of a George Foreman when I replaced mine. I picked it up on sale at Costco for something like $60. It has removable plates that reverse and can be used as a griddle if you open it flat. I love it and use it all the time, it's my favorite thing for so much. You can also purchase waffle inserts for it. I think those may be my...
  4. So true. Unfortunately, not everything comes out as nicely as we'd like. Thankfully, some things come out just perfectly. Tonight will be more tacos. Yum! There was an incident over the weekend involving a mallet and my left hand, which is my bad side. I've more or less lost the use of my thumb as a thumb. I can't grasp or lift anything with it and...
  5. I discovered this recently when we decided to make beef jerky. Every possible kind that exists for sale locally is safe so they probably all are. And also, homemade jerky is delicious! Isn't a hippie store entirely a freak section? We used to make so many jokes when we needed something from one of those stores, and now we shop at them all the...
  6. When I found out the company that makes the only taco seasoning I like (that doesn't have msg) was out of business I cried. This was quite a while ago and I've tried others or making my own since then and wasn't happy with any. Then one afternoon in the hippie store as I walked down an aisle I saw an entire box of my taco seasoning! Apparently they had an...
  7. Yesterday was perfect. The year we got married it was insanely warm, I wore a sleeveless dress and no coat. In February. So far every year we've celebrated, we've never had to wear winter coats. Sometimes we do wait til March to celebrate though since we don't usually have an anniversary. Although yesterday was a tad chilly with the rain and I did wear a...
  8. Last night I made pancakes with marionberry syrup and scrambled eggs. I still have no idea what's for dinner tonight. I'll probably disappoint my husband with burgers and fries. I don't want any leftover floating around because we're going out for our anniversary tomorrow. We celebrate whenever it's convenient for us at the end of February/beginning of March...
  9. There is some debate about whether or not those tests are even accurate. Since there are a wide variety of beers available that aren't made of poison, I don't see why anyone with celiac would purposefully buy such a product.
  10. I managed to keep myself under control until this.
  11. If you don't think white cake would work, what about a pound cake or angel food cake? I like my angel food cake ok but I don't know how other people would like it. I rather thought it was amazing. Besides, they're dipping in boozy dip, and there will be drinks? As if they'll be noticing at that point that the cake isn't the cake they're used to as long as...
  12. When you figure this out, with cupcakes, let me know. If there aren't cupcakes, I'm not interested.
  13. I use a moderately similar recipe for my chicken balls. I play with my spices depending on what I'm doing with it. It's more Chinese food though really isn't it?
  14. I'm the spoiled brat with three health food stores. I found them one day completely by accident. I quickly put them right back where I found them when I noticed the $10 price tag. Holy crap! Udon noodles were an ultimate comfort food. Of course, I never once made anything myself, I always got them out somewhere. Sometimes I miss being able to be so lazy...
  15. I've seen your kitchen. Unless you're buying catering size, you have lots more room. I was obsessed with udon noodles. In my anger and frustration I turned my back on all Japanese food if I can't have the noodles I want. I'm only just beginning to think I may try to either make them myself or try soba and branch out. I always just google the crap...
  16. My carrot soup ended up waiting until last night. The recipe is simply carrots, spring onions, celery, butter, broth, cook til soft, blend, add cream, salt and white pepper. It doesn't need flour to thicken it because it doesn't get enough broth to be thin. And that recipe you linked looks interesting, but just overpowering with the flavors. I like the simple...
  17. We all have these moments don't we? I did this over the weekend with some parmesan cheese. I feel like I'm on fire but I'd do it again. I know I have no business even having that stuff in the house but sometimes things just... happen when I'm at the store.
  18. Thanks. The world keeps turning I guess, and the money I spent Tuesday to pay for my Bountiful Baskets produce turned into pick-up day today. I can't say I understood when I paid $16 extra dollars for 25 pounds of rainbow carrots that I knew exactly how big a bag of carrots that would be. Now I have this huge bag of carrots on my counter that I have to deal...
  19. We weren't really celebrating anyway, we aren't much of V-day people. Just leftover chicken getting used up as quesadillas and some red velvet cupcakes. But this morning heaven got two little angels and Valentine's Day will never be the same for anyone in my family again. My cousin's wife and other daughter are still in the hospital so any prayers that can...
  20. We'll have breakfast for supper tonight. I haven't decided if we'll have biscuits or pancakes yet. I do know we'll have eggs, hash browns and bacon flavored sausages. I'll probably even indulge in an extra sausage or two because I'm already going to be rebounding from dental work and narcotics and surprisingly I don't feel like hell yet anywhere but my face...
  21. I prefer geek to nerd. I'll go with a day pass if I can't get the free weekend pass. I'm not PAYING for that crap, the price is insane! I'll just go for the day Data is there because I have a serious geek girl crush. Have since I was a teenager. Almost as bad as my Patrick Stewart crush.
  22. I've been trolling the Salt Lake comic con facebook page all week. They're giving away a boatload of passes (entire weekend passes!) every week. So I will do anything I have to to get them free. I missed it last year, and this week has been... hell. I can't miss it this year. And omg Brent Spiner is gonna be there.
  23. You deserved to celebrate today! I have a cheese problem. (Like as in I'm an addict besides it not agreeing with me.) I do find though that I do much better with fried queso fresco than any other cheese, maybe that would suit you when you feel a little better Lisa? I just slice it up and fry it in a teensy bit of oil until it's crispy on the outside....
  24. I suggested either burgers or In N Out to my husband for dinner, by text, assuming he would understand one meant "cooking" (lol at indoor electric grill and frozen burgers) at home and one meant other people cooking me delicious food and fries and a shake. He texts me back to point out that In N Out is burgers. Someone just earned himself buying me dinner...
  25. I'm trying a new recipe tonight. Something my SIL (for some reason my favorite one, being one I've never met) shared on facebook. It didn't have a name, so I'm calling it Parmesan crusted chicken. It looks really good. I'm still debating whether I want risotto or something else with it. And I'm sure something vegetablish.
