  1. I got your hearts for you! We're doing leftovers. I worked my butt off yesterday and today to finish up some pads. This evening I finalized a deal with a local store and my heating pads are in a retail store now! :D :D So, once the farmers market season is over and the cold weather kicks in, I'll still be making money. Yay!! I have no leftover...
  2. I just put a rosemary and garlic crusted pork loin in my rotisserie oven. I'm sure between now and dinner I'll think up some sides. Right now though I've had a long day, which included making myself a new heating pad with chocolate mint in it. It smells like a mint fudge brownie and I'm taking some time to relax before I finish thinking about dinner. Tomorrow...
  3. I don't pay $2-4 a bag/container of ready to eat lettuce or salad to have to wash it again and have a wet salad. Yes, people do sometimes get sick. But the instances of this happening in relation to the number of these ready to eat salads sold is small. Every food we buy has an inherent risk. I will continue to enjoy my salads worry free.
  4. Not only that, I've seen a recent study that says moderate coffee consumption decreases your risk of diabetes. This talks about other things, like lower risk of Parkinson's, liver disease and better cognitive function. Open Original Shared Link God I miss coffee.
  5. With the flours you use, I'm assuming it is particular brands? After they're used up could you just switch brands to something that doesn't ping that high for your peace of mind? I've seen that study before, and it really does help to put things in a bit of perspective. I'm not sure how much bread other people eat, but for me I usually eat two slices...
  6. I honestly do this more than I buy the cut it up yourself kind of greens. Simply because it's not wet! But when I do my Bountiful Baskets there is always lettuce or other greens, way more than I can just feed to my bunbun.
  7. Last Christmas the local celiac support group, like every year, did a cookie party in December. Everyone was invited to make cookies and bring copies of the recipe to share. I was all set to go... then chickened out at the last minute. I thought about the celiacs who share kitchens with wheat eaters (and even though I did at the time I wouldn't trust someone...
  8. I keep almost buying a salad spinner then something comes up and I spend the money on something else. I just keep drying my lettuce with a paper towel, before cutting it up and only cut as much as I'll use at a time. It's super annoying and one of these days I'll get a spinner, I've heard they're generally awesome.
  9. I have always gotten cravings and have found the best way to deal with them is to have safe things to eat on hand. If you want cookies, have safe cookies on hand. You can make your own or buy some and put the extras in the freezer. Do the same with cupcakes, brownies, any baked goods. Luckily, my cravings are usually for chocolate or mac & cheese. Chocolate...
  10. I don't get my widespread pain anymore like I used to with foods. I can still set off more CRPS pain with too much of any one thing at a time, but I've found that my tolerance is way up. I still haven't done things like added bananas, soy... lots of things. The sausages I get are just fresh meat ground up, seasoned and stuffed in a casing. I'm not sure that...
  11. I hate when jerks spoil good things. Maybe the lack of mowed grass will chase them off. We went to the store and picked up stuff for spaghetti. I stopped in the store that makes their own sausages and got some regular mild Italian sausage and some sun-dried tomato basil chicken sausage to try. It's in the mid-50s and raining. Not gelato weather. I can...
  12. I saw this nugget today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn2sFVAHF2M
  13. That's funny. Tomatoes and I have decided to be friends. Sometimes. Other things still aren't friendly with me though. Tonight was supposed to be a pork loin in the rotisserie but... the power went out yesterday and we got some dry ice to throw in the fridge and freezer and magically the power came back on after it got brought home. Still, my husband...
  14. Some people can't stand the smell of lots of things. I love lavender, but it tranqs me. My husband can't stand peppermint when it's strong. I'm allergic to eucalyptus which is in lots of essential oil blends. It's all a preference thing, don't let the idea that some people might not like it stop you from trying something that might help. Wait until someone...
  15. Hope your hubs stays on the mend. I canned sweet cherry jam and maraschino cherries today. And I wanted it DONE and pushed and managed to make my left ankle look like an elephant ankle and get myself some "shoot me in the face" pain. But it's done! And on a trip to the store for more lids because I ran out I noticed that next to the closest grocery...
  16. BTW, my maraschino cherries turned out awesome! So, since they're so great I'm canning a bunch. If any survive the summer and fall they'll make awesome Christmas gifts.
  17. I had goat milk once when I was young and I didn't like it so I was scared of goat things. Then I saw blueberry goat cheese on sale and thought what the hell, worst case scenario I only waste a few bucks. I fell in love! I'm tempted to even try the milk again since maybe I just had nasty milk or have grown into liking it. Either way, the cheese is to die...
  18. Yes, and I know it off the top of my head. It's slightly modified from a recipe I found online to make it more awesomer. I put 1 cup of brown rice (but probably any will do) in a blender with 5 cups water. Let it set for 3 or more hours, I usually go for 6 or more and sometimes even overnight. Then strain the rice out. Add 2/3 cup sugar and 1/2 tbsp vanilla...
  19. She came out while he was taking the picture. Apparently she was a teacher or something and tried to explain how they only let her have 5 letters. I'm not sure she understood how that doesn't stop it from being hilarious.
  20. My husband was kind enough to take a picture of irony for me the other day. What does irony look like? This:
  21. Perfect day today! Well... other than that whole getting up at fivefreakingthirtyinthemorning crap. Is that even a time of day? The weather was ideal, if chilly and breezy. I kept my sweater on until a little past noon. Sold well at the market today. I'm thinking if I had a microwave with me I would have sold out! Or at least kept myself toasty. The whole...
  22. Tonight we're having steak fajitas and homemade horchata. One of my very favorite things. A neighbor had some herbs taking over her garden so wanted some friendly souls to come take away some of them. As soon as I have a little shade I'll be out transplanting some chives, cilantro and parsley. I just keep adding to my garden completely by accident. For...
  23. When I do my own rub for a pork loin or tenderloin I usually do rosemary, fresh chopped garlic, salt (a lot) and fresh ground pepper. It gets a beautiful crispy crust in the rotisserie but I'm sure would also be delicious just roasted or in a crockpot.
  24. I don't spend a lot of time out in the sun, but do try to remember to get out every evening before sunset to water my garden. I never wear sunscreen when I'll be outside for short times like that, or when I'm just out running errands and will only be in the car for 10-20 minutes at a time. It's healthy to get some sun. On Saturdays though I spend hours...
  25. The cherry tree needed picking, I think that by the time they were ready half went to the birds. We still got way more than any two, or even four people could possibly eat. My husband thought he wanted to make maraschino cherries until I told him that they take booze. I'm going to price it tomorrow, but we don't want to experiment with something we may...
