ARCHIVED The Mice Are Making Me Nuts!
Adalaide replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We tried snap traps and the mouse kept stealing the bait! I don't know if that is the problem you're having, but I solved it. Quite brilliantly if I do say so myself. I got into my husband's Lucky Charms (or any cereal with holes in the middle like Cheerios or Chex would do) and used thread and tied those suckers to the traps with thread. Then, when the stupid... -

Pancakes with chocolate mint jelly on them. ohmygawd... I think I've died and gone to heaven! It tastes like there is actual chocolate in the jelly. Too bad I'm too lazy to get a license to sell crap I make at home. I could get rich fast! Holy crap this stuff is like liquid gold. My friend are gonna love me this Christmas. -
Those circumstances are likely to change for different insurance policies. I believe I read that my policy covers it if it is deemed medically necessary. I suppose it is up to doctors to determine what that means.

While it is technically considered cosmetic surgery, having it removed is something that can be covered by insurance under certain circumstances. If it is something you would consider having done, it is worth talking to your doctor about.

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Adalaide replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We're having breakfast tonight. There is bacon in the fridge and I feel like it needs to be eaten. I haven't decided yet if it is just bacon, eggs and hashbrowns or if I'll do pancakes instead of taters. I have plenty of time to decide. -
I'm so glad you feel better! And we all know that happiness and smiling is good for the soul so little things like elephants that only you and your cat will see will help. That is why all of mine are giraffes! I find that with the AC I have to snuggle up with mine this summer because BRRRR!!!!! Fortunately I have plenty to binge watch on Netflix and I love...

ARCHIVED Store Employee Telling Me I Don't Have Celiac?
Adalaide replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My husband works at Walmart and he even makes fun of a significant portion of the employees there. He says few are like him, people who show up, work hard and feel some sense of responsibility. If it were me, I would certainly report the employee both to the store manager and to corporate. That is the sort of thing that shouldn't just be let go. Also... -

I am happily feeling mostly like a human today. Turns out Savella and I can't be friends. But if I feel as much better tomorrow as I do today I should be feeling perfectly fine. Great even. I did manage to still make a roast for my husband last night. I threw a beef roast in the rotisserie and he made his own fries. I had just a little, but food wasn... -

ARCHIVED Store-Cut Pineapple
Adalaide replied to veryami1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought the same thing immediately. That behavior is disgusting, should have been an isolated incident and should have been reported both to management and the health department. Just EWWW!!! I rarely buy precut fruits and veggies unless they're on sale, but on occasion I will pick them up. Some stores just get the produce in already packaged and cut... -

No, not Kirkland. It's Sabatasso's and comes in a 2 pack for something like $12. -
ARCHIVED Wal Mart's gluten-free Good Value Line
Adalaide replied to mamaw's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm a white cheddar kind of person in my boxed mac & cheese. You can get Annie's gluten-free mac & cheese in white cheddar. I pick it up at Target and Winco. Not sure where others may find it as I only get it at a local chain, but there is also a packet called Riega that is just the cheese packet, add your own noodles. I get it for something like... -
ARCHIVED Freshetta gluten-free Pizza
Adalaide replied to maximoo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I may have to look for this and give it a try sometime if I can find it on sale. My biggest gripe with frozen pizza has always been not enough cheese. Then again, I'm an extra cheese kind of girl. The first frozen pizza I ever got with enough cheese was the gluten free one from Costco, which I'd give a solid A. (rating based on frozen pizza scale, not real... -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker gluten-free Brownies....
Adalaide replied to across's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In a taste test among nationally available brownie mixes, gluten and gluten free, it was the winner. I still haven't bought one because it's just too expensive for my taste and I can buy a perfectly delicious mix for half the price or just make brownies with little fuss. But one day if I find it on sale I'll try it. -

That ice cream looks good! I really need an ice cream maker. Tonight is leftover pork and stuff. Probably just a salad since it's supposed to be over 100 today and I won't feel like cooking or like anything heavy. I did make a tuna pasta salad this afternoon though. But that's my "lunch" which is around 4-5 for me. -
ARCHIVED How Can I Thicken My Mac N Cheese Sauce?
Adalaide replied to user001's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I do this all the time. I learned to make mac & cheese from a roux first and that's how I keep doing it. I use whatever flour I have at hand. I started using rice flour, although I'm not a super fan of it it works. I much prefer to use the AP flour that I keep on hand instead. At any rate, either worked just fine and my mac & cheese is as awesome... -

Made mint jelly today with chocolate mint. So good! What I want for supper is to eat toast and jelly until I'm sick, but I don't think that is a reasonable plan. So, sticking with the original plan, we'll have a pork tenderloin and some sort of veggie type objects. Maybe I'll see if I can find a salad on sale. -
I was thinking something along these lines but didn't say anything. My husband has vitiligo, which he's only had a few years. He also has type 1 diabetes which has been for 20ish years now. I think (working on diagnosis) that he also either has celiac or crohn's. (God... let it be celiac, far less scary!) I've noticed when he gets bad "flares" with his intestinal...

Oh, I was gonna say we stopped by the grocery store and picked up a 12 pack of Vanilla Cream soda. (generic store brand, but it's incredibly good) Since we don't drink we're calling this our beer and pizza night. -

Hah, I started something. lol I almost went there but I love the pizza down at Malawi's and wanted to try again. Turns out my husband's favorite local pizza joint closed. Tragic because they had the best pizza in Utah. At least he has lots of options though and found something he liked. -

Oh, I'm aware of how awful this drug is. Could make me sicker than a dog. Could cause liver damage. Could do this, that or some other crap. And yet, my next best option is a ketamine treatment. I'm willing to throw as much crap at the barn wall as I can to see if any will stick before going to ketamine. If Savella is scary, the type of ketamine treatment...
