  1. Lots of people LOOOOOOVE the Chebe crusts. I like them okay I guess, my husband won't touch them. We're both in love with Hodgson Mill though. Never tried a thing from them we didn't both enjoy (and he's a wheat eating freak ) and they tend to be far cheaper than the other brands, although I'm not sure if that will be true for you. The only bread I've...
  2. Like... that expandex stuff? Yeah, that crap is expensive! I still haven't bitten the bullet and tried any recipes with it because holy crap! I just find recipes that use regular tapioca starch or other types of recipes. I keep almost caving then finding perfectly good looking recipes for the same things that won't cost me 1/4 of a week's grocery budget to...
  3. I finally have an appetite back, yay! I wasn't feeling great this morning but told my friend I would work for her at the college because she needed to go get a strep test. I knew I needed to eat something, so I had a bowl of oatmeal. By lunchtime I was ravenous, I guess not really eating anything substantial for 4 days really catches up with you. I have...
  4. If you have vacation time it sounds like you've been at your job a year or longer? Are you in the US? If so, see if you can do the paperwork for intermittent FMLA leave. This will give you the flexibility you need to take sudden time off if you get CC'd while you're still new to this and getting the hang of things and getting a handle on your health. It will...
  5. When you say old, do you mean from before you were gluten free? All spices from pre-gluten free days should be ditched and replaced because they could be CC'd from your own kitchen. I can't count the times in a single month I would do things like double dip from one thing to another, and it's a very common practice. As is washing measuring spoons only when...
  6. This is interesting. My daughter was born with a congenital malformation of the trachea called tracheomalacia. While it turned out not to be incredibly serious, she was lifeflighted to the closest childrens' hospital the morning after she was born and spent most of a week in the NICU which was incredibly scary for new parents. We're lucky it was something...
  7. I found it today at Smith's which is a Kroger brand store. On sale for $3! It ended up in the cart so fast I think I made my husband's head spin. He's like "zomg $3 for 6 packs of oatmeal!" And I was like "you have NO IDEA how cheap that is." Since he knows what's good for him he shut up and kept walking.
  8. My Grammy was using some ancient mixer she had her entire married life when I was little. When I was around 10 or 11 she got a Kitchen Aid for Christmas. (Her kids always get together and buy something awesome for their parents every year.) That was 25 years ago and she's never had a problem with it and I imagine that a young unmarried or newly married great...
  9. That actually sounds like a sweet deal. And who could pass up free entertainment on a summer night? Just got home from getting some gelato. It. Was. Amazing. It really should be a sin it's so good. My husband just wants fries and burgers for dinner. I don't really feel like doing any cooking so I'm perfectly happy to let him have his way. I'm hoping...
  10. I'm sure all the bands make you everyone's favorite neighbor! Hope your hubs feels better soon. It's no fun having a sick husband.
  11. Already heard back from the gelato people. A list of 10 flavors (they won't have all 10 at a time) that I can have, including salted caramel. And apparently the owner says lots of people are telling him it's the best they've ever had outside of Italy. I'm totally going there today, because I don't know how long they'll still have the salted caramel and I...
  12. I don't eat at buffets or potlucks. It doesn't matter what "seems" safe. I think about things like the fruit, because honestly I only own one colander so everything goes in it. Pasta, fruit, whatever needs to go in it goes in. That's how it's been done my whole life, that's how I still do it. So no, I don't even trust things like raspberries or strawberries...
  13. It sucks. It really does suck. And most of us totally get that. If you have a Wendy's in your area they're a much safer bet. None of us should ever even consider eating anything from a Subway ever because of risk of CC. It just isn't safe. I worked at one once, and when you get to the bottom of the meat and cheese containers they always have crumbs. Always...
  14. Not planning dinner really. I made a small pot of chicken soup last night that I may decide to have a bit of later. Maybe not. We'll see. But, I went to the store a bit ago for some Gatorade and stopped in the new gelato place just to chat and see what's safe. The owner has a bunch of allergies and was super helpful, put me in touch with his daughter...
  15. Always hold cheap meat or put it in your cart while making considerations. The snipes are everywhere.
  16. Sometimes companies change their ingredients. Most of the time the package is the most reliable source of information for what is in something because it will list what is in what you actually have in your kitchen at this exact moment. What is on the website either may not be updated as quickly as packaging changes happen, or may happen more quickly than...
  17. My husband is a cat person. I'm allergic, break out in hives if they touch me. Hate the things. I like dogs though! My bff is allergic to bunnies too. I didn't find out until after I got one and she can't hang out at my house anymore. The Monty Python bunny was added to WoW as a boss you could fight, it took 20 people (or more), had an ability called Huge...
  18. Sometimes I wonder if I hurt myself in the kitchen and screamed if my husband would come running or not. He sometimes like to play horror games and he may also just think it's his game! Since our computers are next to each other we use headphones because otherwise we'd just annoy each other. Yesterday apparently I decided to get sick. Really real, stay...
  19. Irish is easy, she likes bunnies! And I know Bartfull isn't here to speak for herself but she likes elephants. Both perfectly decent animals for people who aren't into giraffes.
  20. We are having quesadillas tonight and some sort of chicken tomorrow. I'm not into cooking today. I am having the best day ever though. I woke up to find Final Fantasy 3 on sale, it's a new release for computers and I was so excited I almost threw my wallet at my computer. I meant to play a little and get a nap. I played 2 hours without realized how much...
  21. Kettle corn should theoretically be gluten free. It's just (usually) oil, sugar and corn and when I see places that make it at markets, carnivals and fairs it's the only thing they do. Just ask what the ingredients are then enjoy!
  22. I wish I could see the new baby! Or the okapis. You guys have okapis! So jealous. I think I'm going to stop having my birthday in January and start having it in June.
  23. Apparently since tomorrow is the longest day of the year, it was picked to be the first world giraffe day. I went to look up weird holidays and discovered other things that are tomorrow. Apparently every solstice (so twice a year) is global orgasm day. It's for peace. Seriously. So crazy I can't make this stuff up! It's for global peace. You guys aren't...
  24. Credit where it's due, I had lots of encouragement from you! Probably self-serving encouragement since you were my first customer. I've had lots of help, mostly from my super awesome husband. He's been incredible. The best part of all this for me, honestly, is that I don't feel useless any more. I'm actually doing something productive that will eventually...
  25. I do that too. But not with things I intend to eat after!
