I don't even know if it's a specialty drug or just a new brand name drug. It's Savella, which is technically for fibro but we're going off label. My doc says more than half his patients he gives it to can't tolerate it, because it makes them so nauseous they can't eat. (So far so good for me.) But for the few it helps the results are breathtaking. I'll try... -

Saw my pain management doc yesterday. He was finally able to get in contact with a drug rep and get enough samples to try me out on a ridiculously expensive drug to see if it helps or not, or even if I tolerate it, before wasting any resources on it. Fortunately the company that makes it has a program where they'll provide the drug completely free of charge... -

I've been spending my Saturdays at the farmers market, not to hang out, but as a vendor. The markets here are a mix of farmers, art and crafts and food. We are also an area that has become hugely successful for food trucks, many of which come. So Saturdays, for 5-6 hours every day I have to smell so much good food. And my spot is right next to Jose. Jose... -
ARCHIVED Baking A Gluten Free Cake For The First Time, Need Help

Plain metal pans would just need to be clean. If it's a springform I'd say a new one. (I had a springform I couldn't for the life of me get safe.) Things like a rolling pin, since they're often wood, would need to be new and uncontaminated. It sounds like a great idea, and I agree with coffngrl about the air. Something to remember though is that not everyone... -

Yesterday I skipped coming home after the market. Instead I stoped by the store, picked up one of those ready to eat, single person salads that comes with a fork and everything (they're awesome) and a couple Bolthouse Farms drinks and headed off to my BFF's office. She had some ideas on how I could get my products online, which I've been avoiding because... -

My oldest daughter just won the SkillsUSA national Robotics and Automation Competition with her partner. Next summer they go to Brazil to compete internationally! This is the one that wanted to be a chemical engineer, did the FIRST competition and fell madly in love with robots. She is now headed off this fall, switching from a community college to a university... -
ARCHIVED Wine ... Gluten Free?
Adalaide replied to kdevault's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wine isn't a problem. While I don't drink it, I do cook with it. Lots of people here enjoy a good glass of wine though. Since you're newly diagnosed, and have admittedly been gluten lite (you have to be eating gluten to be diagnosed) and not gluten free it is most likely the gluten causing the symptoms. Any amount of wheat, or gluten from other sources... -

My husband is a chicken fingers, burgers, fries, pizza type of guy... with type 1 diabetes. (I try, I swear to God I try!) He acts like if a vegetable gets within 10 feet of him he may spontaneously combust. Still, in the few completely gluten free places around here there is always something he'll eat. My favorite place makes sandwiches (arepas), pizza... -

My husband is a bit of a germaphope. The only reason I own a stupid thermometer at all is to get him to shut up about his stupid meat. And omg beef? If it's brown on the outside I'm pretty sure it's done. If my plate doesn't look like I just murdered an animal when I'm done eating, it was cooked too long. He's all EWWWWWWWW!!!!! And I'd probably make... -

This is probably going to come off as a bit snappish and with more than a little attitude, and frankly, that is just fine. It's your freaking birthday. And finally instead of visiting where there is nothing you know there are completely safe options. You've sat and had water and watched them eat and simply enjoyed the company. If they don't want to eat... -

A ginger snap crust for a cheesecake sounds awesome. I also like to just make mine crustless. It's cheap! I don't know if this would work for a no bake, but it's awesome for NY style. -

Lots of us eat Talenti and don't have issues, and some that enjoy it (even regularly) are quite sensitive to trace CC. The issue that they had with labeling was similar to the one that a chip company had recently also (Lays I think?) where it mistakenly said gluten free but had an appropriate ingredient list. It simply reinforces the habit, never never never...- 18 replies

I needed a new toaster, it also works as a toaster oven and was on clearance for a silly price. The kitchen is so small I feel like I can't turn around in it, but I wouldn't give it up for anything! $100 for a kitchen thermometer? I think I'll keep using my $20 one and be slow. I really would like one of those ones that you stick in the meat and leave... -

The first thing that pops in my head is pavlova. I would make mini ones if I was having company like that and serve them with lemon curd. It's hard to find a recipe for either that isn't good since both are naturally gluten free. Brownies are also a great one. I'm not a fan of the price of Betty Crocker, and buy Hodgson Mill which is about half as much and... -

Frozen sound awesome. My husband isn't a huge fan (I guess he just doesn't like tapioca?) and a whole batch is a lot for one person and it isn't like I can make less because it takes 1 egg. But now that we're talking about them I know what's for dinner! Didn't Arlene use the batter from them to make crepes? I still haven't tried that. -

Open Original Shared Link That was easier than I thought! You can play with the recipe with things like the cheese, other additions, but the tapioca starch and egg are non-negotiable. I've tried it with various egg substitutes, none would rise, it's the egg that does it. One time I totally skipped the cheese and subbed shredded apple (with the water squeezed... -
