  1. Using dishwashers to get the stickers off of new dishes? Using dishwashers as garbage disposals? Using dishwashers as storage for broken glass dishes? These are some of my best guesses but at any rate that sucker is clean and I used it to not do my own dishes last night/this morning at like 1. HAH! I win! I should have planned ahead for a crock pot meal...
  2. I was diagnosed just by biopsy because my blood tests were negative but I gather that I'm the exception. As long as you have insurance you should do the blood work imo. It can't rule it out, but it can't hurt either. They can just do it the same time as your biopsy, no biggie. Having not really eating much for 2 days wouldn't have changed the results. It...
  3. The local GIG group here does a potluck in the park every August. I haven't gone yet. I also backed out of the Christmas cookie thing at the last minute. I know in theory everything should be safe, but who knows what those people are doing? Frankly, if someone lived like I have up until now I wouldn't eat anything they make. I trust me to make safe food in...
  4. Grats on getting back to walking! And I love love love gravy! I introduced my husband to real gravy instead of that crap in a jar and he fell ever so much more in love with me. I do the recipe changing thing too. I always get a little cranky when I don't remember what I did to make it awesome. Tonight's dinner plans changed. I had my husband bring...
  5. The bus joke even got a chuckle out of my husband, which doesn't happen often. Usually he just tells me that sure, whatever I find hilarious was someone amusing. I think we're having burgers tonight. It's something not messy with not a lot of dishes. Since we're moving the kitchen tomorrow I don't want to make any thing that will have leftovers or a...
  6. Get feeling better fast! And keep enjoying that weather. And yeah, if you're gonna be hiding from tornadoes in the basement beer definitely sounds like a good idea. Always good to have priorities straight. I saw on my facebook feed today that a local store has Udi's bread on sale for $3.50 and I had a few coupons left for $1.50 off so I ran right...
  7. In N Out is the top of my list. I'll occasionally do a Wendy's if I'm in a pinch, starving and can't get to an In N Out.
  8. Some ovens say to do it with the racks out. I couldn't find instructions for this one so I played it safe. At least they'll be shiny and nice when I'm done.
  9. You want my snow? Take it! Someone must have taken it because it cleared up beautifully and will be near 50 today. I think I'll get out in the late afternoon to pot my mint if I'm feeling up to it. I started my day with the kitchen half done already but the stove hood and oven racks staring at me when I walked in this morning. Ugh! At least it's just the...
  10. Maybe the rain will let up she says.... yeah, it let right up. It's f'n snowin!!!
  11. omg I almost forgot to share, but I was super excited about telling everyone when I was at the store getting it. So, I stopped at the store to get my chocolate mint and right next to it was a purple plant. I was like, what's that? It was purple basil, which I've never heard of before. So, I got some! It'll go nicely with my purple carrots and purple string...
  12. Glad you survived intact! I just use corn tortillas for everything I used to use flour tortillas for. I know it isn't what I "should" be doing but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying gluten-free flour tortillas that cost $1 each (or more!) and will just crack and fall apart and generally be the worst thing I ever spent money on and leave me eating...
  13. I had played with the idea of using toaster bags in my shared kitchen. But my OCD won out. In a pinch I could maybe, somehow, idk sort of see myself using them? But yeah, they just aren't OCD friendly. If you're just knocking around in a car, traveling, have lots of room to spare packing and are perfectly happy to pack a toaster? Go for it. I had a cheap...
  14. We're having fajitas for supper. Simple, fast, easy and practically no effort involved. Which I need tonight because I'm already exhausted with a ton of work ahead of me. So my SIL who has forever inhabited the actual downstairs apartment in this house got married and moved out. It has been a slow process because she's disabled and her husband works crazy...
  15. Nice job on the rescue, and gratz to your hubs and to you for having such an incredibly badass guy.
  16. That's cool. I think it's really neat to know what interesting stuff is in your family's past. My dad's family has always been interested in that stuff.
  17. omg, I leave for a few hours to do chores and kill some monsters and you women are out of control! I do things like go to the mailbox in my jammies (perfectly respectable jammies!) and fuzzy socks and everyone around here is horrified!!! After my surgery I walked up and down the block in jammies and slippers my husband was like "are you going out like that...
  18. Apparently our dinner meat was rib eye. I looked up a few "recipes" and everything was basically fry it until it's brown on the outside and enjoy. So we seasoned, fried, and I made a balsamic and brown butter sauce for over it which was delicious. I also watch way too much food network. I fell in love with a way too amazing recipe I probably have no business...
  19. If I see a recipe I like, or think I will like, I bookmark it. Then when I have a little time and no get-up-and-go, I get them typed up into my recipe template. (Yes, I have a Word template for recipes and refuse to print them any other way.) I keep them all saved in a file and I print them out as soon as I type them up and keep them in a 3-ring binder that...
  20. Those look easy. I think I'll make it a 1 egg recipe the first time. I always make the smallest amount of something the first time just in case I don't like it or something. If you want something awesome to make with the flour you could make red velvet cupcakes. (Red not required of course, or you could use a natural food coloring.) They simply amazing...
  21. That looks like a great recipe. I'm going to give it a shot as mini muffins.
  22. I make killer, amazing, to die for donuts. But they aren't a recipe. They're a mix. I tried them at an expo, and none of the gluten eaters there could tell they were gluten free other than knowing they were at a gluten free expo. http://www.glutenfreeheaven.com/~glutenfr/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=46
  23. Sorry if I wasn't clear. My point when mentioning how long it takes me to get sick was to make it perfectly clear that by now I would know if it was contaminated. It wasn't. I feel great, didn't get sick at all. I will continue to enjoy Chobani Flips when I find them on sale because it was super delicious.
  24. The brand of the pizza is Sabatasso. It is the first frozen pizza I have ever had in my life that has enough cheese on it to satisfy me, which is saying something because I'm an extra cheese kind of girl. It also gets a beautiful crispy crust with a good texture when cooked according to the directions. I usually add some toppings to it, but it is also fine...
  25. We have a Smith's store by me that has a Free Friday download every week. Which means once a week they have a coupon I can get for a free something. Last week it was for Chobani Flips, and I was pretty excited since I love Chobani. I was less excited when I saw the run with wheat warning on the package. I bought one without gluten ingredients just in case...
