Annual Exam: What Follow-Up Testing To Request?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

So this will be my first annual exam where I can tell my GP I have now been doctor diagnosed with celiac disease and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.  I plan on taking him a copy of all my testing since last year.  Since I know follow-up testing is important, and should be done yearly by your GP, what tests should I be requesting?  I want to set the tone for my future exams during this exam, so that I can make sure I get the follow-up I need.

I'm thinking at minimum:

Vit. A, D, E, K

Comprehensive Celiac Disease Antibody Profile

What else?

here is what my GI celiac  doctor orders for me.

It's right here in front of me--the lab order--as I am having mine done this week for my annual:

Liver profile

serum B-12

free t4, t3

serum magnesium

serum Zinc

TIBC (total iron binding capacity)

serum iron

serum ferritin

iron % SAT

antigliadin antibody IGA/IGG  (which we both know is pointless as I am always seronegative for that one, but he always says "humor me")

if you have joint pain, have the Sed rate and CRP done too.
