Extreme exhaustion - in son and mom

I was diagnosed celiac approx. 5 years ago and have been eating gluten-free.   My 15 yr old son was just diagnosed 6 months ago and has been doing well with his gluten-free diet. We are both suffering from exhaustion and he feels brain fogginess at times. I have had problems with b12, low iron and ferritin levels, but the seems to be “normal” and I’m still exhausted to the point I can’t keep up with my family, need naps throughout the day, etc. My son is the same. He’s going to have to pull out of sports until we resolve our problems.  Can anyone offer some help or suggestions? Thank you.

I do not have celiac (according to a blood test) but I was tested for wheat allergy through Cyrex Labs and discovered that I had multiple grain allergies.  I was allergic to wheat, teff, coffee, oats, barley, rye, buckwheat, amaranth, and tapioca.  I had been gluten free for 2 years and still feeling like you and your son.  I would be so tired that after waking up I would sleep for 2-3 hours.  I didn’t have muscle strength nor good cardio vascular health.  I recently started paying close attention to what I was eating and how I would feel after eating certain things.  Chocolate and caffeine where big culprits in my sleepiness.  I stopped eating chocolate and cut out caffeine and I was better but not perfect.  when I would reintroduce those items I would become sleepy again.  Caffeine also made my neck tense and my eye area would feel a lot of pressure.  I would also get easily annoyed.  My Dr. is trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, accupunture, and NAET so I decided to have him evaluate me.  We discovered and egg, sugar and artificial sweetener allergy which explains some other symptoms I was having.  After being treated for the first three I was treated for my long list of allergens.  I have about two more treatments before I am cleared of all that is bothering me and I can say that I have so much more energy and motivation I feel like a new person.  What I hope you can learn from my story is that even though you might be eating gluten free there could still be foods, vitamins, minerals, or environmental allergies that are causing you problems.  Pay close attention to every item you and your son eat and how you feel after eating those items.

Enlarged lymph nodes in neck and groin with celiac are not uncommon. They can take time to reduce even after going gluten-free. Monitoring is key.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
