Severe Pain & Extended Abdomen on Left Side

Hi Everyone, I need some help here.  I was diagnosed in 2002 with Celiac by Dr Peter Green.  Unfortunately, I could not continue after I retired because of insurance reasons.  Anyway, I am diagnosed in chronic pancreatitis last year.  I have a great doctor here in Florida and she sent me to a surgeon.  He was very nice and spent over a hour with my husband and I.  It seems I have pain on my left side next to my naval and my stomach extends quite a lot.  I take several medications and nothing seems to help.  Just had a colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago and my Dr said my colon is torque.  Endoscopy last year which showed I am compliant with my diet.  I have Barretts too.  The surgeon told me that he could do a laproscopic but 99% of the times they find nothing at all.  I have had several surgeriess on my stomach so they think it could be adhesions.  Has anyone out there had this problem?  If so what did you do.  I am going to be 70 next week and really  do not want this pain for the rest of my life.  All ideas and suggestions would surely be helpful.  Thank you all so much.

Hi Andi. So sorry you are suffering so much. I have a twisted intestine also. In my case it isn't real painful at this point it just feels like I have a towel running down my left side inside. An internal ultrasound showed my intestines are displaced. I have had adhesion surgery and that did give me some relief for a few years but as often happens they grew back.  I would go back to the surgeon. Maybe bring your husband with you as many doctors will discount how much discomfort a woman is experiencing. If this is interferring with your life then perhaps the laproscopy would not be a bad idea. There are risks with any surgery and you will want to consider them carefully. Perhaps there might be another test like a CT or MRI that they could do to figure out better what the issue is. I hope some others come on with some ideas for you. I hope you get some relief soon.

Welcome to the forum, @LimpToeTheTimeless Bone growth plates close in the late teens to early twenties, so it's doubtful you'll grow much taller, but you may start to bulk up in muscle.  Remember to boost your absorption of vitamins and minerals needed to build muscle by eating a nutritionally dense diet and supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals, especially Thiamine B1, to counteract the malabsorption caused by Celiac Disease. Keep us posted on your progress! Fermentation breaks down some of the gluten in wheat. Nowhere enough for a wheat dough to become gluten free, but the gluten may be significantly reduced. I think some pizzerias make the dough the day before and leave it overnight. The longer the microbes are acting on the flour, the better.

I am M 21 and I diagnosed myself after a week of fasting and slowly reintroducing stuff in my diet except gluten, I had terrible eczema scars ,dandruff and brain fog, now I am free after 6 years of just pain, I am 6'2, will I grow taller? And since I am a gymnast will my muscles grow like quicker, cause before no matter how effort I put in I just couldn't.

And the fact is, no two celiacs will necessarily respond the same to gluten exposure. Some are "silent" celiacs and don't experience obvious symptoms. But that doesn't mean no harm is being done to their gut. It just means it is subclinical.
