Anybody Celiacs and Had an Allergy To rubbing alcohol/perfumes

I was diagnosed with celiacs in 2017. Then in 2020 when I took my food allergy test since I knew  I was alergic to corn and rice, when the lab tech slathered rubbing alcohol on my skin then pricked my skin I had a horrible reaction which took me over a month to get over it.  Rubbing alcohol is a CORN and RYE derrivitive.  Anyway it triggered my MCS. Anybody else with celiacs and struggle with MCS from time to time? (multiple chemical sensitivity). I am alergic to all chemicals, as well as celiacs, as well as being allergic to 10 other foods. ( corn, rice, peanuts, legumes,  shell fish, wheat, brocolli) etc etc.

I noticed when I got GLUTENED from the wal mart  "gluten free" chips, that triggered my MCS.

And after I got acupuncture on my head in 2017 before knowing I had celiacs. What a freaking FARCE and bull crap. Big scam!!!   N Ds are worthless too. That is why my N D doc could NOT tell me i had celiacs because she is not allowed to diagnose.  My test came up positive and after doing research that is when i realized what the difference is between intolerance and celiacs. Hello!!!!  Get your head of your ---- , if you have antibodies you have celiacs if you don't intolerance. I had high antibodies.      I HAD TO FIGURE THAT OUT ON MY OWN. And how all gluten-free food companies are  big  farce too. Most celiacs become alergic to all grains.  I learn a lot from amazon comments and questions.

But anyway funny how the rubbing alcohol brought out severe perfume allergy in my system as well as MCS.   I am getting better (its been 3 mos)  but still don't know if I will ever be able to wear perfume again. I can maybe smell it from a distance and that is it. For now I am doing good with NOT having any chemical nose attacks , except with petrol wiffs and perfume wiffs. I get horrid symptoms.

Well anyway just looking for a better mask, probably gonna have to go with a full face for awhile.

Can anybody  relate to celiacs, MCS, and other food allergies?  IT ALL GOES TOGETHER.

AS WELL AS  "ADRENAL FATIGUE" .  I have the Pituitary problem and not the adrenal problem.

It is all related.   Well  I know it is so nice not having any celiacs problems anymore once knowing I  can't handle ANY grains.  And knowing what to eat and not eat.  I see all the time on here about celaics "oh i can't eat corn anymore".  "Oh i can't handle  Millet" .  That is because they are GRAINS and those people have TRUE allergies towards them. (hence because of their celiacs status). So anyway moral of the story YOU can get GLUTENED on rubbing  alcohol. No doc will ever touch me with that toxic crap again!!

I don't have much experience with MCS, but it sounds like it's difficult to deal with. Chemicals are in many things we put on our skin each day.

Many people on this forum have spent years to get their celiac disease diagnosis, and I am no exception...it took my doctors several years to figure it out, even though I had pretty classic symptoms. In the end you are your best advocate for your health, and it's important not to give up even if your doctors do.

Thanks. I am doing pretty good now except perfumes and fragrance smells .I been wearing a full on respirator at work and to the store etc etc. So NOW my symptoms are less .The filters don't last long which is sad since they are only picking up on ambient smells.  My food allergy test came up me alergic to turkey but not chicken in August. WELL now i am alergic to chicken. I was nervous to try to eat it since i hadn't eaten since  MAY.  I got a sore throat and extreme dizziness and I am sure more symptoms are to come. Well I had to poo poo too and my stomach hurts a bit.  BUT because of my MCS I cannot eat any processed foods. Because all processed foods has chemicals . OR most do.   Surely I am not the only celiac person with  20 other food allergies.   BUT i just eat the same things over and over again and i am doing fine. Beef, eggs, cheese, banana, advocado, potatos, blueberries. Almonds and almond bread.  I really don't get sick  of eating all that either over and over again. I don't really like eggs so  I don't eat them much. BUT I can't wait to make my own potato chips and sweet potato chips fried in coconut oil. I buy the stuff at aldis. It is pretty good quality. That Spectrum I bought long ago at wal mart had a chemical in it.  AND sad that the food supply has been poisoned for a long time and some batches are and some aren't. I just had a bad alergic reaction to the Terra chips!!!!  (sweet potato). I smelled the chemical but i kept eating them. The first 8-9 bags i did NOT smell no chemical smell. IT was the last 3 bags i bought before Thanksgiving, all 3 were laced!!!!  The first bag I did fine then the second bag I smelled more of the chemical on the chips etc and i REACTED.   SO never again. I gotta make my own now. And i definitely don't eat any potato without peeling them first. Ok I hope you are doing great now!!!!  It used to be fun going to the store or Dollar General buying chemicals and  junk food. NOW it is no fun because i don't do much shopping. I only use coconut oil and baking soda and that is it, for my body ,teeth and clothes. IT is NOT hard for me .

That's a good idea. It can at least establish the potential for developing celiac disease and can help people decided between a celiac diagnosis and NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). And it doesn't require a gluten challenge and can be had without a doctor's prescription.

I have my endoscopy on Thursday, has anyone had the procedure done with a cough? I don't have a continuous cough, but every now and then throughout the day I have sort of coughing episodes. They are a lot better than they were but I called endoscopy and they said to speak to my gp and my gp got back to me and said I need to ask endoscopy if its ok if I have it done still.  Help!

Thank you so much, everyone. For the moment my doctor just has me taking iron but hopefully we can reconnect soon. I'm going to look into genetic testing, too. Great advice all around and I appreciate it--and you can bet I'm going off the PPIs!

I walk fast for fitness, 4 to 6 km per day. I am also 74 years old. Apart from the Celiac challenge, my lifestyle is healthy. I had a sciatiac nerve pinching under my one foot, with inflamation in my whole shin. It was almost cured, when the other shin started paining and burning. I do stretches, use a natural cooling gel and rest my feet. Can Celiac cause muscle pains/inflamation, or is it just over-excercising?

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?
