Hello!

I personally do make sure toothpaste and any items I may ingest are gluten free. I have personally had good luck with Sensodyne Pronamel and Colgate toothpaste. I am not Vegetarian, but avoid Dairy as I am severely lactose and casein intolerant, so I feel your struggle to some extent. I have joined some Facebook Celiac and gluten free groups that have been very beneficial for me. I always search in the top of the facebook group when I have questions if something is gluten free or dairy free. With member counts in the tens of thousands per group, they typically always have tons of answers to each question posted and I can always find an answer very quickly if I am trying to find a gluten free product. Of course, I search these forums as well!

Vitamins usually have “gluten free” or “Vegan” claims right on the labels, so that makes it fairly easy. Many people say the generic forms of Tylenol are gluten free (of course EVERY brand needs to be checked). I have heard Target brand labels gluten free acetaminophen (which is Tylenol), and GENEXA makes a clean/gluten free version of Acetaminophen.

Is there a health food store in Canada you can visit that has a someone who may be knowledgeable about local products that could assist you? I am in Ohio, but, we have some mom and pops type local health food stores which carry many gluten free items, Vegan/Vegetarian items, and of course all of the vitamins and supplements. The clerks working at the store are always so knowledgeable and seem to really have a passion for helping people with different health and diet restrictions.

I believe Scott posted an article about Tylenol on this website you can easily search for reference as well.

Not everyone focuses on gluten-free skin care products, perhaps only the most sensitive, however, every celiac should focus on everything that is eaten or put in your mouth should likely be gluten-free. Nowadays it can be as easy to find gluten-free skin care products, and we've done articles on this and other topics.

Here is where you can sort those vitamins:

I think it's important to be clear that the gluten molecule does not pass through the skin.  If people choose out of an abundance of caution to choose gluten free skin care that's fine but I do worry about new people who are already overwhelmed getting anxious about skin care.  I personally do look for gluten free cosmetics, especially lip gloss, but even that is not really necessary.  Celiac Canada tell us we'd basically have to eat a full tube of lipstick to get enough gluten to be a problem.

It’s confusing I’m seeing a specialist soon after my ttg blood test being high

Going gluten free It’s hard to change

Definitely worth speaking to your gastroenterologist about this. My own told me that by using Gaviscon a barrier forms over the contents of the stomach and stops gas and acid irritating the throat.  In fact, he said to me that because I found relief using Gaviscon that was a very clear indicator that reflux was the cause of that particular issue.   A wedge pillow will really help with this - or raising the top bed legs with bricks.

I did get the pneumonia vaccine about 4 years ago. I had this amazing allergist who did all those vitamin deficiencies test and told to get that vaccine. Unfortunately she retired.  I haven’t been to an allergist in a few years,  I’m not sure what my levels are now. I did have a pulmonologist who wasn’t concern and said I seemed fine to him that I was young etc. But yes I think I should at the very least get a different opinion. Thank you for your reply

Yes I do have acid reflux. I’m not on anything for it at the moment. I sometimes wonder if that’s what it could be because I get heart burn every night. I may revisit my gastrointestinal doctor again. Thanks for the reply

Hi @HelloFlowersGoodbyeFlour I wonder if you suffer from reflux, as if you do, you may find it could also be irritating your airways.  I shall explain: I have to use a blue inhaler from time to time, and it seems to be related to reflux.  Never had any trouble before my coeliac diagnosis, the reflux seemed to be something that developed following a holiday to France in 2019, where I had been exposed to gluten.    The reflux continued into the autumn and winter, my throat itched to begin with, particularly after meals, but it then that feeling of irritation seemed to spread to my lungs.  I even found it difficult to breathe on occasion. What stopped it in its tracks was using a wedge pillow at night, following a reflux diet (you can find them online), not eating 2-4 hours before bed and also having a dose of Gaviscon Advanced at night, which forms a barrier so that acid/food can't go back up your esophagus.  The throat irritation faded, and then I found it easier to breathe again. Just mentioning in case it could be a contributing factor.

Since initially getting your D checked a few years ago, has it since rebounded to normal levels? Sounds like at some point you got it checked again.
