Kaiser Insurance?!

Recommended Posts

So I just changed over to Kaiser insurance becauase that is what work wanted. I am ok with it but I have some concerns or should I say "I hate change"? I have several doctors that I have had for years and years. Asthma, OBGYN, primary doctor, and of course my GI doctor. I love these doctors and DON't want to change. What do I do? I have had certain things go on and my doctors already know me and my history. I have actually had some of them do my surgeries.

My biggest concern is making sure I have the SAME doctor when I need to see one. I heard with Kaiser, that doesn't always happen. I need suggestions. I am at the point where I am willing to pay out of my own pocket to keep my originaly doctors, but one of these days I am going to run out of money!

Please give advise. :(

I understand that Kaiser varies considerably depending on where you are. I'm in Colorado, and in my experience, on any given day you may see any given doctor. I do get to choose a primary doctor, and I schedule my annual physical, etc., with him. But when I call to schedule an appointment because someone is sick, we just get assigned to whoever is available that day. It may be different with specialists; we really haven't had to see any. (Thank goodness!)

It's almost certain that you won't be able to keep your current doctors; Kaiser does pretty much everything with their own, in-house doctors. This isn't always the case for specialists, though, so you might as well ask. Good luck!
