My stepfather got shingles on his face, in his mouth and ears which is called Ramsey Hunt Syndrome. In doing some search on the internet some sites also connect celiac disease to it? Has anybody heard of this?

I cannot say I have heard of this however, I have personal experience with the subject. I was diagnosed with Ramsey Hunt Syndrome about 6 years ago. Without a doubt was the most painful thing I have ever endured in my life. The left side of my face went paralyzed and entire face drooped. It did get somewhat better but left side of face is still paralyzed. 2 weeks ago I was finally diagnosed with Celiac disease. I have been gluten free for 2 weeks and it has been a miraculous beginning to my healing. Brain fog has lifted, depression has lifted, tons of energy, stomach bloating has subsided. It is truly a miracle that through the help of my wife and the internet, that pointed us into the right direction that had eluded doctors for years. Thought I would share that yes I do have Celiac and I did have Ramsey Hunt syndrome. I am not sure if there is a link. That was the answer I was looking for when I stumbled upon your post.

How much gluten daily were you eating before your blood panel was taken? Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:

It's certainly possible, but since it just turned spring it could also be something that is blooming now that you are allergic to. Perhaps new plants around the new houses?

I am not a medically qualified person, but I think in your shoes I would do the same.     If you are in the UK, there are some really good gluten-free aisles now.  The largest range near where I live, currently, appears to be in Tesco's.

@cristiana I’ve got an appointment with the midwife next week so will speak to her then. Waiting for gp to get back to me. I’ve made the decision today to cut gluten out regardless due to the risks I’ve read about

Hi Katie I am so sorry you had two miscarriages in the past.  Try not to worry, though, because it could be that they were unrelated, perhaps? Well done for contacting your GP.  Is it possible that you can speak to your midwife in the meantime for a chat?    Cristiana
