To Biopsy Or Not To Biopsy?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out whether I need to try to get a biopsy or not. I am sure it would be ideal to do it, but it is expensive. Here are my results. Do you think you can conclude a positive celiac diagnosis from these results alone. Also, what are the benefits of a positive biopsy???

Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA 31 High

Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgG 16 Negative (20 is considered weak positive)

t-Transluaminase (tTG) IgA 4 High

t-Translutaminase (tTG) IgG 5 Negative (6 is considered weak positive)

Endomysial Antibody IgA

Immunoglobin A, Qn, Serum 167 Negative

Positive for DQ2 and homozygous for DQB1*02.

Thank in advance for the info! I just want to know whether it is worth doing it. Also would it be worth doing a biopsy on my 3 year old who has stronger celiac symptoms than me? She tested negative on the blood test FYI. We looked into doing a biopsy on my daughter and it was going to cost 2 grand even with insurance.
