Hello, im new to the forum i was just wondering if anyone else has PANDAS (Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders assosiated with streptococcal infections) and gluten intolerance.when I was young I suddenly had ocd like habits and had just had strep.I still experience them when I get strep and I've herd that this can be caused by my gluten intolerance.

Welcome Bmann42!

Any body stress can kick in Celiac Disease, as in pregnancy, mono, surgery, bodily trama or just stress.

But instead of your OCD being the cause of Gluten Intolerance, the opposite might have happened. An underlying gluten intolerance (or predisposition) may have been triggered by your Strep Infection, and your OCD symptoms may have developed.

Try going 100% gluten free as best as you are able and your OCD MAY clear. Nothing ventured..nothing gained. :) Isn't worth the chance? B)

This is a very old thread, but I haven't been on the boards for several years. I logged on to look for more info on this.  My husband and I both have Celiac Disease. We have three gluten-sensitive kids, and one of them also has PANDAS.  I have met two other parents whose children have both Celiac Disease and PANDAS.  They're both autoimmune conditions; I'm not sure if there is a link beyond that.  For my son, the PANDAS showed up years after he was on the gluten-free diet.  So for those hoping the GFD "fixes" PANDAS, probably not.  But certainly, getting glutened can be bad for your brain in other significant ways. :S

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.
