Test Results
Gemini replied to katerplum's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your doctor is wrong on so many levels and you are right....you need to go gluten-free if all testing has been completed. Did they biopsy you or was the biopsy negative? It doesn't really matter because that can happen if they missed the sweet spots where damage occurred. With these test results and the fact you have "in your face" symptoms of Celiac,... -
Peanut M&M's
Gemini replied to Jewels50's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
FWIW........https://nimasensor.com/2017/07/mms-gluten-free/ I eat only the plain (milk and dark chocolate) plus the peanut ones from time to time and neither flavor has never bagged me in 12 years. I think Kareng is correct with regards to manufacturing......it would be smart to just manufacture the gluten free ones on a single line(s) and do others...- 21 replies

Boston- dedicated gluten-free restaurants?
Gemini replied to CeliacMommaX2's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
https://www.zagat.com/b/celiac-friendly-restaurants-boston OK...these are rather upscale but if you want dining without the fear of taking a hit, then some of these are my favorite choices. Namely Legal Sea Foods and Davio's, both of which are the next best thing to a totally gluten-free restaurant. You will be hard pressed to find a totally gluten... -

testing update
Gemini replied to ironictruth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do I understand correctly that you are still unsure on whether you have Celiac Disease? The Celiac center nailed it, which is great because all those other docs failed you and did what they all do to most people who think they may have it. Two things........ I love your sense of humor as in how you keep on referring to one of your docs as the"one who... -
For all those forum members that live in the New England area, notably Massachusetts, you have to go here! No excuses, get in your car now and go. http://www.lolasnatick.com/menus/#/gluten-free/ I knew about this place a while ago but it wasn't until recently that I had the time to battle the traffic and go there to check it out. I went specifically...

Hi Saghar.......well, your testing shows you are reacting to the gluten in your diet and that you may have intestinal damage also. Some doctors may diagnose you on these alone but many will not. It sure looks like you have Celiac but is it possible for you to have the biopsy? Would you be able to accept these results as true and stay on a strict gluten...

Hi von........take a look at this website. There's a lot of information but their message is pretty accurate and these are things that your doctor will never discuss with you. They don't have time and that's why people like us with Celiac and Hashi's need to do our own homework and work hard to find the right doctor. I had the same problem as you 25 years...

I don't think you are more sensitive, it's just that when you eat clean and get well, you feel the reaction way more because you have healed. I feel your pain on the social aspects of being gluten free. I am not affected when people eat gluten filled food in front of me (I've been gluten-free for 12 years) but it is annoying when they over focus on...

Stomach Acid Issues
Gemini replied to LilyR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Lily.........please have a look at these blog posts by a doctor who addresses the whole acid reflux problem and the right way to correct it. No, it is not safe to use acid suppressants long term. It is one of my personal pet peeves with doctors, even though I have never had acid reflux. My mother does and her doctor is seriously screwing her up. They... -
I am becoming so tired of reading about people's experiences with snippy, know -it-all, so called professionals who discount a very high test result as "meaning nothing". There are no false positives with a test result of over 100, period. The extremely rare "false positive" usually applies to those with a reading of one or two points over normal range...

I agree with you completely! I think it's great that there are resources where a person can have blood tests done without doctor involvement because you can't always find one who is on board with things. Or for those without insurance or a doctor for a period of time. You are correct in that Celiac and many other chronic diseases are do-it-yourself, in...

You know, cyclinglady, that with Celiac AND Hashi's, the hives problem might just be from those 2 and nothing else. Add in that stress from the tooth construction (I know that routine all too well myself) and you have a relapse of symptoms. The past 2 years have been hell for me and yes, I have bouts of hives. Not all over like you, but even one is...

Hi jewels........in all that blood work they did, did they run one called the DGP/IgA or AGA/IgA? Either test will tell you if you are consuming gluten in your diet, not the tTg. As tTg can be elevated by other autoimmune conditions, you won't know if it is your diet until you have the results of the ones I mentioned. Please check into that because if...

Funny enough, Snooze provides breakfast for the B & B we are staying in. They used to cook their own breakfast for guests but now have Snooze do it. I was a bit nervous as you order the day before and they bring it over at breakfast so I would not have contact with the people preparing my food but I guess they have a lot of requests for gluten free so...

We will be based in Ft. Collins as we are visiting family but will not be spending all our time with them. We'll do day trips into the mountains so we can hike and maybe hit Boulder so that should be easy. I already found Blue Agave on-line and their menu looks great...lot of options. I found it pretty easy to eat there the last time I went but that was...

I could be wrong but Methotrexate is an immune suppressant so it may affect Celiac testing. I have seen this mistake made with other people with RA. It may be that the only way you will know if it will help is to continue eating gluten free for awhile and see how well it does with the pain levels you have. Or...have the biopsy. But, again, will the...

I am not sure that the thought that your antibodies go down because there is nothing left to attack is true. If you reach that point, then you should continually have to increase your dosage of thyroid hormone. You would need full replacement dose that is given to those whose thyroid's have been removed. I am no doctor so I could be totally wrong. My...

If your son is 21 years old, then I am not sure you can force him to be tested. He's of age. It is huge problem. I have an extended family member whose early 20 something daughter is a diagnosed Celiac and she will not follow the diet. Her mother is so worried because she is always unwell and in pain but will not follow a strict diet. Too inconvenient...

New DX... Who do you tell?
Gemini replied to CatchyUserName's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think you will find that aromatherapy is safe. I have had the same thing when having facials many, many times over 12 years gluten free and have never, ever had a problem. I have never found any aromatherapy that contained gluten. I am a very sensitive, diagnosed Celiac. As far as lotion is concerned, you won't have a problem if you wash your hands, which... -
Premature Graying at 25 - Hashimotos and Thyrotain
Gemini replied to Dperkins92's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
As far as the grey hair goes, I understand how you feel as I started going seriously grey in my mid 20's also. As cyclinglady stated, there is nothing you can do about that except color you hair or live with the grey hair. I chose to color it. Grey hair is generally either a genetic thing or it can be the result of vitamin deficiencies or illness. It also...- 4 replies
