  1. Ohhhhh......I can hear the blow back from this statement already, even though it is true.
  2. No, they are not wrong. This article sounds like it comes from the anti-make-up crowd. Especially with regards to DH, the reaction is a celiac reaction....it comes from within. For those who react topically with DH to gluten containing products, they most likely have an additional wheat allergy or just extremely sensitive skin, which would make sense with...
  3. You will probably get the same answer from the wine maker. As whiskey is considered gluten free by distillation, and wine is gluten free, they will tell you that the wine is gluten free. The percentage of people who say they react to whiskey is pretty small.....most Celiac's can drink whiskey once they have healed their gut. I do not drink any hard liquor...
  4. Excellent! Sounds like you have receptive people who listen, which is not always the case. I am sorry you have to go through all this testing but I hope you get the answers you seek. Please let us know how it all goes and good luck!
  5. These...... https://shop.americastestkitchen.com/the-how-can-it-be-gluten-free-cookbook-2528.html?___store=default&sourcekey=CPGZZGFA0&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign= Oh, my! They have another one out! https://shop.americastestkitchen.com/the-how-can-it-be-gluten-free-cookbook-volume-2.html?___store=default&...
  6. Hey Nikki.......thanks so much for this updated list! Especially the Colombian restaurant because I would kill for a good gluten-free empanada!
  7. A few things to consider.......gluten of any kind cannot be absorbed into the skin as the molecule is too large. I know some people have trouble with this concept but it's a science that is well understood. I do not worry about anything that goes onto my body except for my hands and lips. It is still OK to use a product that is not labeled as gluten-free...
  8. With a positive EMA and a positive tTg, that is a slam dunk for Celiac Disease. If you read about testing results, the odds are 99% that you have it. You also had very high numbers on your testing so that adds to the diagnosis. At this point, the biopsy, if you have it done, is to check for the amount of damage, and is not needed for a diagnosis. I...
  9. It is entirely possible to get a safe meal at an airport. I always go to the high end places and that makes a difference. I have no idea what they have at LAX but Legal Seafoods, if they have one there, is ALWAYS safe because they follow strict protocol for Celiac dining. I ate at the Boston one on my Colorado trip in October and it was excellent and I...
  10. You are a nice person, Ennis, to do this for Thanksgiving! If I were in Texas, I would feel safe eating your food and it sounds delicious! To have an allergy safe meal served in a church is a wonderful thing.
  11. Had to mention........this made me laugh out loud and how true it is!
  12. You do realize I am starting to drool all over my keyboard? Your second sentence said it all. It's been 12 years for me gluten-free so gluten free chewy is fine by me!
  13. Bfree brand is in the US now and they are stocked at my local grocery store. I have not seen the wraps yet but I am going to request that they stock them. They have these dinner rolls that are actually a gluten-free sourdough roll and they are delicious! Read the link and see what they use for sourdough starter......excellent! The rolls have chew to the...
  14. I am so sorry for this additional burden. I know how you feel as my brother was a diabetic who I also firmly believed had Celiac and I know how he struggled. In the beginning things can seem very overwhelming but, over time, I am sure you will find a way to make it work. May I ask if you are Type 1 or 2? I ask because you say you had weight loss and...
  15. http://www.newburnbakehouse.com/supermarket-products#wraps Starbuck's also had wrap sandwiches in London and this was the company they used. Warburton's bread and wraps put everything in the US to shame. The wraps are moist, delicious and do not SPLIT! I could actually consider a move to the the UK just to have access to this bread. I will say it...
  16. http://www.quattrobimbi.com/Panettone-large.aspx http://www.quattrobimbi.com/panettone-small.aspx Stollen, smollen! I have had these 2 Panettone's from Italy and they are delicious. They will make you forget you have to be gluten free. The large ones can also be had at Whole Foods. Not sure if they have them everywhere but they do at the...
  17. My panel was the same as yours........all tests positive by large numbers so you can consider yourself a Celiac. Are you very symptomatic? I will add that I did not eat Whole Foods exclusively when healing. I needed to gain weight badly so ate gluten-free bread and a few other things that seemed to agree with me. Never had a problem once I went gluten...
  18. No, we ate at the one that was further out from town........I can't remember the road it was on but it was away from the town center. I know where that other one is.........we stayed right down the street on Mountain Rd.
  19. Go to Blue Agave! I was just there a month ago and there are so many gluten-free choices your head will spin. I am very sensitive and nary a problem. The food was delicious! The nachos, which were yellow corn, were gluten-free. Snooze was another place we ate at about 3 times and their brekkies are excellent. I stayed away from the gluten-free...
  20. Hello SevereCD..........I, too, am a very sensitive Celiac so your acronym hit home with me! I'll address your concerns about meds...... I use Benadryl every single night because of allergies. I take the Children's liquid version because I have more control over dosing with a liquid and I am not a person to take many meds at all and am thin so when...
  21. Enterolab's gene testing is very reliable as gene testing is very common now and straightforward. There is nothing questionable about it. However, the other stool testing that they offer is not currently recognized as reliable and it isn't. You cannot test for Celiac Disease utilizing stool samples, as of yet. Maybe someday someone will come up with one...
  22. Knitty kitty...have you been diagnosed with Sjogren's? There are many factors that come into play with severity of symptoms besides vitamin deficiencies. If you are pre-menopausal, then you may have a better outcome with severity of symptoms with regards to dryness. Hormones play a huge role in that. How long you went undiagnosed with it is also something...
  23. Yes, Legal's has a really, really good gluten-free menu and they have excellent protocol in place to prevent cc. I highly recommend them. They were one of the first restaurants to do so and I am very thankful for them! Woodman's is still there and they would be as they have been there since the 1930's. The food still rocks. I go about twice a year...
  24. While this is very good advice, taking vitamin supplements won't be much help if you have Sjogren's. I take all the vitamins you mentioned just because I have Celiac and very few Celiac's can get all their nutrient needs from food alone. Nothing helped much until I started using Restasis. It's the only RX I take and the benefits have been noticeable....
