  1. My favorite restaurant in Rome was next to Piazza de Poppolo called Il Porto di Ripetta- amazing gluten-free spaghetti with tomato sauce and bacon and a chocolate soufflé! Went there 3 x. Lots of gluten-free beer, like Peroni. Grom is a 100% gluten-free gelato chain with waffle cones and everything. The McDonalds (separately packaged/prepared) gluten-...
  2. We stayed at a fantastic B&B called The Carriage House in Girdwood (a great place to base from) for 3 nights and she cooks a gourmet breakfast every morning. Many places make their own sausage! She made egg type dishes every day that I could eat and fruit and hash browns or whatnot. Across the street was the Double Musky restaurant where I had a shrimp...
  3. Hi, I live in Israel. There is an amazing gluten free since 1954 FALAFEL place, called Johnny’s Falafel in Tel Aviv! He will prepare yours separately from the rest and use ingredients from the back so no cc. Just tell him you have celiac/allergy. The Hazi Hinam grocery store has entire gluten free aisles! With THE BEST Frozen gluten-free CHALLA...
  4. Be sure to get the (wrapped and cooked separately) GLUTEN FREE CHEESEBURGER AT MCDONALDS on a gluten-free Schar bun! Amazing! GROM is a 100% gluten-free GELATO CHAIN- even gluten-free waffle cones! My favorite restaurant in Florence was La Luna! Must get the aroncina appetizer and the calzone with ricotta and Nutella! They claim every single menu...

  6. We go to frozen yogurt places like Yogli Mogli (Atlanta area) and even the FRO-yo bars at Racetrack gas stations (fancy, newer locations). They all have allergens listed on the machine for each flavor where you pump it yourself. I also go to Baskin Robins and ask for a new scoop and a new container from the back. I also eat Mc Donald's and Dairy Queen...

    ARCHIVED Wildfire

Great! I LOVE THIS PLACE. I travel and we are a military family who move a lot. We've been to the locations in D.C. area, Atlanta (I think it closed since), and I forget where else. I LOVE their gluten free foods and have pics and blogs all about it!
  8. 12. Do you remember what you ordered?
  13. Thanks! Will be visiting soon for football game!
  14. The Trader Joe's over there always had this fudgy, brownie-like chocolate cookie that was wheat/gluten free. It was amazing. I don't know if they still have them. They came in a brown paper bag. You'd have to check to make sure they didn't change the ingredients. They have good baked Salt & Pepper chips there, too. As far as restaurants, In N Out...
  15. Thanks for sharing such a positive experience! Since moving to the Eastern part of the country, Five Guys is a new favorite for me!
  16. The CLEVER thing about PF Chang's is that the gluten free items come on a DIFFERENT PLATE (i believe it has their logo around the edge and maybe is a different shape, too) so even YOU can tell if they brought you the right or wrong version (not 100% foolproof, but better than most)! I wish EVERY place would do this! It's a sign to all servers not to "helpfully...
  17. I blog regularly, but not on this site much anymore. I liked this site because it is mostly celiacs, so I will occasionally post here, but no pics for this site. I've been diagnosed since 2005, so here is WHAT I've been eating lately: Trader Joe's gluten free boxed mac n cheese (the ONLY one I'll eat) Gluten Freeda's gluten free ice cream sandwiches...
  18. Many places marinate steak in SOY SAUCE. Very few soy sauces do not have gluten. You have to be very careful about marinated meats. Even raw chicken you buy in the store and lunchmeat chicken is often injected with broth. I eat steaks only at Italian places or other places that marinate only in olive oil and salt and pepper. You also have to ensure...
  19. I recently hosted the neighborhood ladies and served lasagna and didn't tell them it was gluten free until someone remembered I can't eat gluten and asked. For appetizers I serve chips and salsa/guacamole, oven-baked nachos, cheese and sausage, and veggies and dip. I also concur with the others on sticking with a naturally gluten free protein and a veg...
  20. Other hidden areas: kissing your loved one! Using the same toothpaste as gluten-eaters. Using the similar looking drinking glasses as gluten-eaters---you may accidentally drink from the wrong glass. Using your toothbrush AFTER you get glutened by accident. Touching salt and pepper shakers or other contaminated stuff at restaurants. When I am around...
  21. Don't be a downer. St. Valentine's Day is not a Hallmark Holiday. This holiday has a sociological value and psycho-emotional value of lifting the winter doldrums and inspiring people to be romantic, thoughtful, and profess their love. Plus, there's the candy! Open Original Shared Link candy is almost all gluten free. I'd observe and ask about cross-contamination...
  22. I love Against the Grain bread and there is a recipe for stuffing with their baguettes (purchase from Whole Foods Market).
  23. Aside from smoothies, what are you favorite recipes for the Vitamix that you've made gluten free? Soups, breads, etc. I recall a lady in my CA support group bringing in a wonderful pumpkin bread she made in her 18 year-old Vitamix, but the recipe isn't in the Vitamix recipe book...??
  24. To see what I'm planning to cook for Thanksgiving this year, with links to recipes, click Open Original Shared Link. I got ideas from magazines as well as from the Gluten Free Expo in Norcross, GA, last weekend. I'm throwing my first Halloween Party, and these are the gluten free Halloween snacks I'm serving: Chocolate tombstones and witches fingers...
