The chiropractor that diagnosed me Gluten Intollerent has also suggested Magnesium, a Digestive Enzyme and another Supplement (for intestinal healing) - is anyone else taking this extra stuff or has anyone heard about it????

For 2 months now, I have been taking 2 different probiotics, magnesium, digestive enzymes, extra vitamins, and Betaine HCL.  Managed to go on vacation and I know there was cc and only minor impact.  Everyone is different, but I just could not believe how well I came back.  I really expected more of a reaction after all I had been through this year.  I really think these things helped. Good Luck.

Just wondering what made you start taking your supplements??? Mine is to hopefully heal my IBS which usually results in Constipation, but now I experience more Diarrea, Severe Bloating + Gas. Been trying it for 4-5 months already! Are Diarrea, Gas & Bloating - Detox Symptoms from coming off of Gluten???

Magnesium can cause diarrhea.  My chiropractor does not want me to take it when I have diarrhea.  I lay off for a couple days and go back to a smaller dose working my way up to a higher dose if necessary.

I am using Genuine NZimes Dr. Howell's Formula Extra Strength.  It is in powder form and you sprinkle it over your food.  These I purchase through Azure Standard.  These are working well for me.  My Functional medicine nurse had told me that my villi were too damaged to do their job of telling my pancreas to fire.  This is reversible, but in the meanwhile extra enzymes are needed to break down my food.  Since starting enzymes I have seen less unprocessed food coming through.  I have also used enzymes provided by my healthcare practitioner and ones that I purchased at a nutrition store.

I have used IGG for intestinal healing.  I felt that it helped me.  My son took glutamine to help heal his gut; he had parasites.  This seemed to help him.  The osteopathic Functional Doctor recommended them for him.

I also use probiotics.  I am using Restore Probiotic.  This is in powdered form and I just add it to water.  I think that it is doing something for me.

Thanks, I think I need to regulate the amt. of Magnesium I take more - like you are doing. I just get so afraid of being constipated again. I really appreciate all that you've shared with me :)

I was already taking TruFlora to heal my insides, but after a bacterial infection my GI told me to take Florastor as well, so two probiotics.

Celiact, after looking over all of the vitamins and supplements I am low on, I was already taking supplements of some of them and I was low?  So, I chose Celiact, reading the label I can see I am getting mega doses.  I feel better, I have finger nails I can use, for the first time in my life, without breaking.

My Gastric Acid was at 1, so instead of taking all of the scripts that the GI wanted me to take, it was suggested I try Betaine, I did, it works.

The Enzymes, I am still new on them, I think they help.  Case in point, my family went on vacation, our host family had a very gluten kitchen, the impact on me was very minor.  I tried to stick to only clean healthy foods, and braced for the worst, it never came.  We did eat out a lot, again, which was worse, a gluten kitchen or a gluten restaurant, but I kept it to foods that would not be impacted.  Salads, meats, fruits, and I introduced them to Gluten Free in the store they shop at.

So, I see that they are working.  My list of problems are much greater than what you will see when I post this.  Those are just what I am Dx with.

I had constipation most of my life, when I was a kid, it was D.  Now its a mix, before the vacation, I think I understood normal.  I have bad gas too, they put me on a very restricted diet after an endoscopy, lots of rules to eating, even sleeping.  Right now I have a cough, I think its related to my Esophagus problems, carry over from vacation.  But I will keep on with my supplements and enzymes and the probiotics I will never miss, I do not want to go through that bacteria again.

DId this help?  I hope so.  Hang in there.  It gets better.

@Aretaeus Cappadocia thank you for your reply and the link, that is very helpful to get a visual of just how small of an amount can cause a reaction. I know I am not consuming gluten or coming into contact with gluten from any other source. I will stop touching/tossing bread outside! My diet has not changed, and I do not have reactions to the things I am currently eating, which are few in number. My auto immune reaction just seems so severe. The abdominal pain is extreme. It takes a lot out of me. I guess I will be this way for the rest of my life if I ever happen to come into contact with gluten? I appreciate the help.

Thankyou I did find out the Infectious disease is the route to go rather than dermatologist. I did reach out to two major hospitals and currently waiting on approval for one of them in Infectious Diseases to call me. I also did have implants ( I didn't know and sense not properly in my medical. Neither did surgeon)in 2006 and there was a leak 2023 during the same time I was dealing with covid, digestive issues, eyes and skin.Considering I " should  be fine" not consuming gluten/wheat, taking vitamins for sibo and STILL feeling terrible. It has to be parasites. I also take individual eye drops prescribed, could there be an issue there? Anyways my pcp thinks I need therapy because again they don't acknowledge my digestive issues because in my records it shows im fine, hintz the reason I had to go back to bay area hospital:(  I thought skin issues maybe sibo related but I feel and have seen and seriously trying not to think about it because it's disgusting.

oops. I didn't see that before posting or I would have at least referenced it. The two recipes are pretty similar, but I think the newer one is a little simpler/faster. Next time though I will search more before posting.

I love Middle Eastern food and eggplant, and here is another version we shared some time back:

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
