Hi all I haven't been diagnosed or even had the test yet but wanted someone's opinion. I'll try and keep it brief... 4 years ago I was admitted to hospital for lung infection due to working in a kitchen with no extractor canopy. I discharged myself due to them giving me something I had allergic reaction to. From then I got health related anxiety. Anyways after 2 years my health related anxiety started to diminish but I came anxious about everyday things. To this day its under control. The last 6months I've started to notice changes within my bowels and body. I get tingling in right cheek near lips tingling in arm and legs. Pins and needles in feet. Acne on my back.. Diarohea and mucus. Stomach cramps and excess gas.., awful flatulence... Sometimes I just want to lie in bed all day from being tired. Un steady in my feet.  Palpitations   list is endless... I spent the last4 days gluten free and felt so much better but last night I went out and had a fair bit to drink and ordered Chinese not caring about gluten. Today I've been bed ridden all day. No hangover but all the other symptoms have come back twice as bad.. I went to Dr's last week and they reffered me to dietician but they seem to always just thinks its my anxiety and turn a blind eye. Nice to get someone's else's opinions sorry to be long

Sure.  Celiac is possible.  You need to remain on a gluten containing diet to be tested for it.  A dietician can’t test you for it.  Any doctor can order the basic Celiac panel blood tests.

I take it they are symptoms of the disease

Yes and no.  They can also be from other things.  I hope the doctor tested the basics - thyroid, B12, iron, CBC, etc.

my point is- a refersl to a dietician, for help with a gluten-free diet, is a bit premature.  Suggesting you go gluten-free  ,before you are tested for Celiac,  is irresponsible of that doctor .  If you have a great response to the gluten-free diet - you have to go back to months  of eating gluten to get a Celiac diagnosis.  Usually, when people feel better - they won’t go back to gluten.  But they don’t know if they have Celiac - so some are not as careful as a Celiac should be.  No official diagnosis means other health care providers and your insurance company won’t do follow up or testing for complications of Celiac ( for example - osteoporosis).   Some hospitals/ nursing homes will not  even try to provide gluten-free food without an official diagnosis . If a Celiac has kids - they need to be tested.  No diagnosis- no automatic testing. It goes on and on
