Judy,

I have never listened to that radio program...maybe I should?? Is it long? I guess my doctor was probably trained by that guy...I think I'll ask him. All I know is that my doctor is incredibly knowledgeable about gluten intolerance so I think I'll keep him. :)

Wow Judy,

Thanks for the email....I guess you talked me into listening to the program. :)

To tell you the truth Thomas3000 tried to get me to listen to that like about 6 or 7 months ago. I didnt listen to him cuz I thought I knew it all. It was when I first found out I was gluten intolerant so I didnt believe him about possibly having infections and all that. Theres some old thread on here where I basically told him off. Guess I'm eating my words now.

All these months later I end up at a BioHealth clinic and come back positive with the C-Diff infection. My first appt. last month when my doctor started talking about gluten intolerance and all that can happen as a result of it....all I could think about was that this was exactly what "that guy" on the message board was trying to tell me a long time ago. :(

Anyways, I listened to the program. I fell asleep somewhere near the end so have to go back and listen again. It was AWESOME. See....thats why I was so thrilled about my new doctor and I look forward to going every week cuz I always learn so much. I dont get to go every week anymore after next Monday cuz it was only for 6 weeks. Now I'll only go twice a month. I dont know if the guy in the radio show trained my doctor but all that stuff about gluten causing infections and bringing down the immune system is the same as what my doctor told me in the beginning. I hope I dont end up like that lady he was talking about with like 5 different infections. :o I should be ok since I'm already gluten free for awhile now....that kind of scared me though.

Thanks for getting me to listen....it was educational and I never get tired of learning new stuff. :D

I only had about 15 min left to listen and had to stop .....mind on over load but it made soooooo much sense to me and answered so many questions i had..esp about milk and soy.

I dont remember anything about milk and soy. Did I fall asleep before that part?

Yes, Rachel I think you did go to sleep

--- because it MADE ME SIT RIGHT STRAIGHT UP IN BED and the ice pack hit the cat...so remember thinking...ah ha, this is what everyone is saying...go gluten-free and milk and soy must follow and i kept trying to hold out. good with soy. but milk cheese etc has almost been gone for 7 months..

as this dr (who thomas said to me DID TRAIN YOUR DR.) WAS TAKLING--- i kept thinking of you and when he went into all the infections...god it made so much sense and scared the dickens out of me.

it was about 35 min into the talk i have about 15 more to go think the number of the show was 54:min + can't remember but i jsut kept thinking of you during the whole talk. HE MAKES THINGS SO CLEAR.

GLAD YOU LISTENED TO IT AND THANK GOD YOU FOUND YOUR DR.

Please forgive my typing i've got to get off taking too much out of me to try to focus to typel

So gluten, milk, and soy can cause infections?

Carriefaith-

not really sorry i miss lead you but it's about how we also need to take soy and milk out of your diets just like we are doing with gluten.

Carrie, read your thread on Grave's. I know my neice just was having her thyroid radiated today. she had the same symptoms as your having.

i'm not saying 'do it' just telling you about her.

I don't know about Graves so didn't comment after reading your post.

If you have time, i'd listen to this program...it is so informative about how the infections get ahold of us.

Going to listen again tomorrow just so much to asorb in one sitting.

judy

ps please keep us posted on how your dr apt goes.ok?

So gluten, milk, and soy can cause infections?

No...basically the doctor talks about how undiagnosed gluten intolerance damages the intestinal lining and lowers our immune defenses so that bacteria, parasites, yeasts...etc...can settle in. This even further lowers our immune defenses but the radio program really explains it well. I'm pretty much dealing with alot of the things discussed in the program. After going gluten-free and not fully recovering I got diagnosed with one infection so far. My doctor thinks there may be more but only one has been found so far. As a result I have numerous intolerances both food and chemical. Gluten Intolerance is the underlying cause for many illnesses and infections but if you just stop eating gluten the infections dont just go away on their own so healing is not what it should be.

Judy,

I finished listening to the program...I had missed the last 15 minutes. I love hearing the success stories. Pretty much everything the doc talks about is the same as what my doctor is doing with me so even though its not "new" to me....its still fascinates me more and more. I get so amazed by how much gluten affects us and in so many different ways.

Rachel--

Thanks so much for explaining..Felt bad i had miss lead Cariefaith.

I just don't know enough about this to post anymore on this thread.

i hope you and Thomas will continue to 'set us straight' on this info.

I'm sure that it is all 'old news' to you since your dr is doing just what the radio show has been talking about

will you keep pm'ing me with infor that you get...i'm just so over whelmed at this point with my sleep apena

that it's a struggle for me to even get out of bed and try to figure out what to eat WHEN I CAN GET DOWN STAIRS TO EAT SOMETHING.

I Feel like I'm physically back to sq one physically becasue reacted to the glue in apnea test in hospital on valentine's nite..like acidtone with the artificial nails...talked about that to you.i see you have the chemical sensitivities mmmeeee too big time...esp don't go to malls anymore with the perfume's and the idiots spraying that crap in my face...dont even ask me so i don't get out much to shop.

the sleep apena dr was such a jerk  almost cried when he called and told me--"as a neuroligist...didn't see conclusive evidence there is any connection with celiac disease and apeana...so see you in april & oh yeah,--- insurance won't pay for new machine...you'll have to do without the mist have to add to old (5 year old machine)" he'll put in a request for a new one but.....

Soo i've been fighting with insurance and apena drs this week next week it's the dentist who is trying to find out info...tooth ache and not going in until we know it's safe and CA in a little over a week.

thanks for being there Rachel. :(

love you

Thanks for the information! Don't be sorry, I was just curious as to how gluten, milk, and soy, relate to infections. I am gluten and dairy free, but not soy free. I would find eliminating soy really hard since I love soy sauce so much.

ps please keep us posted on how your dr apt goes.ok?
Thanks! I will let you know how it goes at the doctor. I will post the results and what the doctor says in my Graves disease thread. Thanks for caring :)

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Judy,

Don't feel bad for posting on the thread. Your post wasnt misleading at all. You were just commenting on the radio show and she misunderstood you because she hadnt listened to the program. :)

I feel so bad for you having this big setback right now. I totally understand how you're feeling because yes I do have major chemical sensitivities. Its actually my worst problem and if it werent for the sensitivities I'd be doing pretty darn good. Call me crazy but I still go to the mall. I'm still a shopaholic....now I'm just a shopaholic who has to hold her breath most of the time. I dont go in certain stores.... it kills me just walking by Sephora or Bath and Body Works.

My doctor says the chemical sensitivities are caused by an overabundance of toxins in my body. He says the burden not only effects my immune system but spills over onto my organs so that my livers ability to detoxify is greatly diminished. Getting rid of the infection should help with alot of that...the leaky gut is the main cause of all this toxic stuff getting into my bloodstream and causing food intolerances and such. I guess the C-Diff can cause some serious damage to the intestinal walls.

Sometimes it seems like this is all so complicated and how will I ever recover but the doc says it really doesnt have to be that complicated. He told me that the body *always* fights to get back to its natural healthy state. Sometimes things are preventing that from happening but getting rid of those things (like gluten) will allow my body to be able to do the rest on its own. Those are the words that I think of when I start feeling down. I know I'll get rid of these chemical sensitivities...its only a matter of time and patience. :)

Oh...and the people spraying perfume everywhere. I swear one of these days I'm gonna just go off!

The last 2 times I went to Abercrombie (my fav. store :) ) when I was waiting in line to pay for my stuff of course someone had to grab the perfume off the display table and start spraying it everywhere. This happened 2 times in a row now. The first time I got really sick and was crying in my car on the way home. Damn those perfume spraying people!

That is interesting, I also can get sick from certain smells and chemicals. I have definately been exposed to my share of toxins <_< Pesticides, formaldehyde, asbestos, and arsenic to name a few. When I get rich I'm going to go to a detox program.

Hi All,

I stumbled across this thread searching and I must say it warms my heart to read the responses. My dad and I had tons of fun doing the radio shows. I also wanted to let you know that his book on Chronic Stress will be getting printed in the next several months. If any of you would like to be notified of the release feel free to contact me with your email address. I'd also like to add that every day we hear success stories of people of all ages who got off gluten and dairy and saw the reversal of many symptoms (subclinical gluten intolerance). My family is gluten-free and we love it! And despite my role in the laboratory business, I always tell doctors to just have their patients STOP EATING GLUTEN for 30 days. Commit to it and see what happens. For those that commit, the news is always good!

Be Well!

Hi Bryan

I can't believe this thread came back up.

It's so nice of you to post on it

I'll send you my email or it might even be open on here for you to click on. I'll check.

So much has changed with Rachel and I. Her the most from her treatments.

I've sure had many stuggles since these posts in 2006.

It's so late here i'm going to bed now but plan on posting tomorrow.

Carrie.......did we ever know how your tests came out?

Thanks so much for the post.

Going to have to listen to you radio show again.
