Just got my lab tests back today and my TSH is 24.00. Hypothyroid again and increasing Levoxyl to 175 mcg, UGH!!!!

Guess that explains my extreme fatigue even with being gluten-free for almost 6 months!

Hopefully once they get the thyroid leveled correctly your fatigue will lift. Feel better soon.

I get so messed up when my thyroid is messed up, mine has gone down to 1, and up to the 40s. very weird!

I was dx with Graves disease several years before the celiac and had RAI to kill the thyroid and so now I am Hypothyroid and it has been so hard to keep my levels maintained.

Hi Sis,

Thanks for your earlier response about whether Levoxyl contains gluten.

Just found out from my Doc. that my Thyroid works fine. However, it is enlarged again.

(I' ve got Hashimoto.)

I cannot find out why I am so tired. Also got hit by a bad case of depression, which I usually do not have.

Got off gluten about 2 months ago and did not cheat on my diet since then.

Also, experiencing muscle weakness. Any ideas what else it could be? I am actually feeling worse than when I was on Gluten.

I'm hoping you guys will know the answer to this...I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a couple of months ago, and am taking eltroxin. Can you explain the TSH numbers to me? Normal is between 0.5 and 4 (?)...I'm not even sure if I'm remembering that correctly.

      yes, definitely old news by now. I posted in response to a reply posted on this topic this week. Sticking with the original story, I googled product recalls related to MAM's original claims. Did not see any so I am guessing MAM's claims of gluten contamination did not hold up to scrutiny. Trying to be objective about that whole controversy, to me GFW...

      I'm 63 and was diagnosed in 2010. Prior to diagnosis I was suspected of having to strokes and medicated according each time. A neurologist called me in to discuss my scan. From that discussion I had a camera down and celiac disease was confirmed. I suffered continued pain and numbness down my left side and was offered amitriptyline, and antidepressants that...

      @jenniber, it would be pointless for your brother to get tested for celiac disease if he has already gone gluten free. Doing so invalidates the testing. He would need to undergo a "gluten challenge". That is, he would need to go back to consuming generous amounts of gluten (at least 10g daily, or the amount found in about 4-6 slices of wheat-based bread)...

I suffered continued pain and numbness down my left side and was offered amitriptyline, and antidepressants that was also diagnosed for nerve pain. I said no as I didn't want the stigma of being on antidepressants. Seven years later I begged my GP to prescribe them and my life was changed almost immediately. If I'm glutened accidentally whilst eating out then my nerves pain/symptoms get worse but it's nothing compared to taking the medication and feeling a little drowsy every now and then.  The best of luck for the future.
