I Did It Again

Hells Bells

Hells Bells Apprentice

I got rid of the cooked breakfasts and cc. Then I eat trail mix now got the pain and look on the pack to see it is made in a plant which uses the same machinery for gluten foods. I then look at the trail mix I usually eat and see it is not safe either.

I live on trail mix when I am working. The birds in my garden and squirrels are now very happy but I am so annoyed. I am sick of this thing and literally.

Just when I think I have things sorted I find another area. My family are getting sick of me complaining. I jelously gaurd my gluten-free foods.

I was in denial and now I am angry.

Well thank you all for listening to my rant. If you see any overweight squirrels in ontario it was me.

That last line made me laugh! I know how hard it is and how frustrated you get by accidental glutenings. I can't even beging to tell you how many times I've picked up something, and even though it looks safe I'm not sure so I just won't even try it. Or my personal favorite...finding a gluten-free product that you want to try...spend a ton of money on it and its GROSS!!!! Even worse, unless you have this, its really hard to comprehend just how oppressive it can be sometimes. Let it out here, I think its safe to say we all get it. By the way, have you tried to make your own trail mix?

I make my own trail mix. I am allergic to tree nuts, and all of the pre-packaged mixes are full of them. It is very easy to make your own using what you like in it. Any time you need to rant, come here and let loose. Just being able to tell it to someone that fully understands helps with the emotional side.

As for the fat squirrels in Ontario, I think they have been mailing the excess trail mix to Kansas. The squirrels here are looking mighty chubby! Or as my cats will say, yummy juicy!

I haven't tried it yet, but Enjoy Life has recently come out with a gluten-free trail mix. The nice thing about Enjoy Life is that their stuff is also free of other common allergens: soy, dairy, nuts, etc., and they are produced in a strictly gluten-free environment. It looks yummy, and you can buy it on their website (I haven't seen it in a store yet, but I don't have many health food stores near me.).

Good luck!

Fat squirrels in Guelph...my daughter is going to Vet school there--I'll tell her to keep a look out for them ;)

Seriously, I hear you. You may want to look into making your own gluten-free trail mix. L.A.

I understand!!! I was diagnosed just a bit before you and was getting along pretty good food wise when with company here I may have eaten 3 foods that may be suspect for my 2 day 'D'. Suppose I will just stay away from all 3 until i feel up to testing them. Glad you know what food is the culprit, you are ahead of the game. I eat individual nuts on a 4 day rotation diet, rotating etc foods so I won't get allergic to anymore foods. It takes planning and work to do it but think it pays off for me.

Also I was told by my Dr. not to eat commercial dried fruits so in the fall i dried some fuits in a home dryer.

Being celiac is not an easy way of life but I have found it pays off to be careful ( have learned the hard way!!! Have you tried the alternative grains such as quinoa, millet, cornmeal and grits + amaranth? Cooked and hot with your oil of the day they are good substitutes. Wish you well in your search for better health. evie

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
