I'm not a Nascar fan, but I LOVE racing. We mostly like sprint cars, micro sprints, go karts, and so on. That's pretty much all the local scene is around here. Actually, our business focuses on making fuel injection systems for micro sprints. You into any other forms of racing?

swittenauer Enthusiast

I think you & I have gotten on this topic before on a drag racing post. My husband & I drag race but we love to watch Nascar. We are going to Bristol again in March.

Guhlia Rising Star

That may very well be. My memory is horrible. We went on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour a few years ago... That was all drag racing. I probably told you that before though. We worked for Stewart Warner Performance and were doing a booth at each stop of the tour.

swittenauer Enthusiast

I don't remember that but that sounds interesting. I'll bet you love what you do.

Guhlia Rising Star

Yup. Absolutely adore it. I grew up around racing. We started going to the track when I was about 3. I started racing when I was 7. I only quit a few years ago. We still go to the races two times a week every week. It's a blast.

So, what kind of drag racing do the two of you do?

My husband and I love the nascar races also. Dayton 500 will be right around the corner too!!! We use to go to the track in town for many years and hubby pitted for cars and also ran water truck a few years on our dirt track. For now we just watch it on tv. We watch the sprint cars also. And busch race on Saturdays if we are home and not outside, truck race is watched very little just to catch up on the news of it all.

Finally, a Nascar fan. Any favorite drivers? We are going to Bristol & I can't wait.

Guhlia Rising Star

Hey, a fellow sprint car fan... Woo-Hoo!!! What kind of sprint car races do you go to? 410's?

mn farm gal Apprentice

My ultimate favorite driver has always been Darrel Waltrip!! I also like to watch Kevin Harvick, Casey Kahne, and more. My husband want to go to Daytona in 2008 for a week or more. I think he said it will be Daytona's 50th anniversary so there would be a special feeling for him, he thinks. As far as sprint cars we have them in our area rarely. But on Wednesday nights one of the channels on tv carries a dirt race and sometime they are the sprint cars. Like Eldora!

VegasCeliacBuckeye Collaborator

I went to the Bristol night race 2 years ago with my brothers.

I like Roush Racing - I like Greg Biffle

I hate Tony Stewart...

TinkerbellSwt Collaborator

Nascar fan here! My favorite is of course Jimmie Johnson. He is such a cutie too! I am actually liking Denny Hamlin this year too.. I loathe Tony Stewart, Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon! I cant wait for the new season to start, we have never been to a race though. Some are close, like Lowes but they are next to impossible to get tickets for!

swittenauer Enthusiast

We are Rousch fans. I"m a big Mark Martin fan the most & my husband goes for Matt Kenseth. Our basement is loaded with Rousch drivers memorabilia along with Dale Jarrett & Ricky Rudd too.

MySuicidalTurtle Enthusiast

I have always liked Jeff Gordon.

Vitamin A is important for vision health. But be careful in supplementing it as it can lead to toxicity. Research it and consult with your medical professional. I do not have a definite answer to your original question but I was pursuing the possible cause of nutritional deficiency. But your visual deterioration could be unrelated to your celiac disease so don't rule that out.

Currently 19. Doctors think I was 1 year old when celiac started, but I wasn't diagnosed until 18, because they didn't do lab work on minors. I've been on a strict gluten-free diet for 14 months now. For example only certified gluten-free nuts and I've researched best brands a lot. I take B vitamins, vitamin D, vitamin C, Curcumin with black pepper, black sesame and green tea extract, magnesium, iron, and a little selenium and zinc, beef liver capsules. I recently had my vitamin and mineral levels retested and D is the only one I don't have enough of now. I had my eyes tested at 17 and they were good back then.

Not everyone with dermatitis herpetiformis needs to avoid iodine. DH is caused by gluten exposure, but iodine can worsen or trigger flares in a subset of people, especially when the rash is active or not yet controlled by a strict gluten-free diet. Some people react to iodized salt, seaweed, shellfish, or iodine supplements, while others tolerate normal dietary iodine without problems. In most cases, iodine restriction is individualized and often temporary, not a lifelong rule for everyone.

Questions: How old are you now? How long ago were you diagnosed as having celiac disease? Do you practice a strict gluten-free diet? Are you taking vitamin and mineral supplements to offset the nutrient malabsorption issues typical of celiac disease and if so, can you elaborate on what you are taking?

My vision was good as a teen and now has gotten worse in the last year. Could that be caused by my celiac disease?🤓😎🥸👓🕶️
