How To Find gluten-free Restaurants

It has taken 11 years to FINALLY get a diagnosis for Celiacs disease. I have been to multiple specialists and have only begun feeling better recently, due to my wonderful new doctor who took the time to listen and understand my symptoms.

For the past 2 months I have been 100% gluten free, and have not eaten out because I love how good I feel and am totally afraid of gluten.

How do you go about finding out for sure if food is gluten free? I've called a few restaurants to ask about gluten free meal, and they say "gluten what"? I try to explain, but I don't feel confident that they understand the importance of even the little ingredients that people don't think about.

Any advice? I live near the Villages, FL if anyone out there is familiar with the area. We have a good selection of chain restaurants.

I found this a good global gluten-free restaurant and shopping guide.

.

Just enter the country, the state and the city and it finds suitable eateries, it works world-wide.

My question is it possible that Barley is OK > I know wheat gives me stomach pain, rash, and severe diarrhea.

Bread has about 8 g of protein per 100 g, so a piece of bread weighing 125 mg contains 10 mg of gluten. Bread has a density of about 0.25 g/ml, so 0.5 ml of bread contains 10 mg of gluten - i.e. a bread ball 1 cm in diameter. I think it would be unlikely to ingest this much from throwing bread out for the birds.

Sciatica came to mind for me as well. You might want to get some imaging done on your C-spine.

Maybe this is sciatica? When mine acts up a little, I switch my wallet from one back pocket to the other. this isn't a substitute for more serious medical help, but for me it's a bandaid.

OK so I just learned something completely new about this for the first time in years, that is REALLY WEIRD. One of my nerves that likes to "burn" or whatever is doing it every time I bow my head! I mean it is completely repeatable. Literally every time. Once my head goes beyond a certain angle *boom*. Nerve goes mental (lower right leg pain). What the hell. I've never seen a direct trigger such as this before that I can recall. The pain was the usual type I get from this problem - I suspect somehow the head movement was interrupting descending inhibition processes, causing the pain to leak through somehow.
