Not Sure What To Do Next

Okay, so a few years ago I had stroke like symptoms and did not report them in a timely manner. Various other symptoms started to show, inflamation in hips, anxiety, exhaustion after eating. Had another episode like a stroke in Sept 09. Since then have had issues with vertigo and still off and on inflamation and the rest. PCP sent me to a Neurologist who did MRIs and lots of blood work. Nothing on the MRI (first thought was MS, no signs of it!). B12 extreemly low, took injections for 5 weeks then took me off when my numbers went up. More tests coming to see if they stay up. Then, blood work for celiac (still waiting for results) and found that B6 is low. B1 is okay, still waiting on D, E is okay. Started on supplements for B12 and B6 and have been itchy with hives off and on since.

Not sure how to handle all of this new stuff. Was very healthy a few years ago, now I feel old. I am only 33.

One more question -- If it is celiac, would there be a relation to my husband's beer consumption and "ill feeling" down there after marital affairs?

You do sound like you could be one of us. Make sure to try the diet after you are done with testing even if it comes back negative.

As to your question do have hubby brush his teeth throughly before you 'do anything' once you have gone gluten free. Also make sure all your lotions etc are gluten-free and if you use any type of panty liner get the unscented variety.

Question for you -- is Benedril (SPELLING??) safe? Doc just called, no more B supplements for fear of more serious reaction and to take Benedril for next 3 days. I made sure the vits were glueten free when I purchased them but they made me sick and itchy. Just want to make sure I am doing things right. I have not changed my diet yet, will any of this even matter? Thanks for your help.

Do the vitamins have wheat or barley grass? Some vitamins are labeled gluten free but still contain those. They should be avoided. You do need to stay on gluten until you are done with testing. Then do give the diet a good shot. If you don't intend to have an endo since you have had the blood tests you could start anytime. If you do plan on the endo keep on gluten until the day that is done.

Cool compresses may help a bit with the hives. I haven't had any allergy issues since I was diagnosed, prediagnosis I was allergic to almost everything LOL. My doctor said my immune system was in hyperdrive and that was why. Anyway I haven't had to take Bendryl in a long time so I don't know if it is safe. Try posting the question on the products section or call the company and ask. They should have a number on the box.
