Chest Rash And Stomach Pain

I have been gluten free for about 6 months now and I am starting to have new symptoms. These are not the same symptoms as when I have gluten. I get a rash on my chest every once in a while and I also have bad stomach pain around my belly button and cramps on my left side. I have had blood tests, a CT scan, 3 doctors appointments, and a bad appointment with a gastro doc who just dismissed my stomach pain like it was nothing. It took me 3 years to figure out I had celiac and I don't want go through that again. My tests have all come out normal so I'm not sure where to go next or who to ask. I tried cutting out dairy (and have been very careful), but the symptoms are still there. Has anyone else had symptoms like this? Maybe a soy or some other kind of food allergy? And what kind of test can be done to diagnosis it? Should I see an allergist? Or try to find another GI doc?

Unfortunately, for some of us, cutting out gluten (and lactose) is not enough. We have gone so far that we have developed intolerances to other foods as well. Some of the likely culprits are soy, corn, and nightshades. I have had each of these, and others besides, and it has taken a while to delineate them. Most of my additional sensitivities, apart from corn which reacted like gluten, caused rashes, itching and hives initially.

I would recommend keeping a food and symptom diary to try to determine what you are reacting to. And would also recommend going back to a very basic diet of whole foods, nothing processed, meat, fish, veg, fruit, rice, maybe some nuts and seeds, and then slowly introduce other foods one at a time to see how you react. We reactive ones have a hard time figuring out just what it is we are reacting to and this seems to be the best way to delineate the problem. This is really the best test of all, because gluten has made our bodies highly reactive and we may well react on testing to things that in a couple of weeks we will tolerate quite well. It just takes a while for our antibody manufacturing machine to calm down and realize it can cease production

Stay the course and be well. :)

Aside from food intolerances it could be secondary infections, amoebas, or parasites.

You could go see a Naturopath and see about getting a stool test done. Sometimes the little beasties in our guts can cause similar symptoms to glutenings.

The rash, for example, is often seen with an overgrowth of Candida Yeast in the body.

Gluten has thrown our systems out of wack and we need to correct the imbalances to fully heal.

Best of luck to you and do keep us updated, it all seems to be a learning process right now, for Doctor and Patient alike. ;)

oh i second cypress mist- u should find a better gi or naturopath- there is still so much to be considered- i had read once that pain in the umbillical region could be parasite related... I myself am still guessing because i get weird pains too in almost every area of my abdomen tho i suspect i am dealing with a lot of muscular and fascial issues.

There's also SIBO... A possibility...

So you've had a ct scan?? So everything's ok with your organs??

Sciatica came to mind for me as well. You might want to get some imaging done on your C-spine.

Maybe this is sciatica? When mine acts up a little, I switch my wallet from one back pocket to the other. this isn't a substitute for more serious medical help, but for me it's a bandaid.

OK so I just learned something completely new about this for the first time in years, that is REALLY WEIRD. One of my nerves that likes to "burn" or whatever is doing it every time I bow my head! I mean it is completely repeatable. Literally every time. Once my head goes beyond a certain angle *boom*. Nerve goes mental (lower right leg pain). What the hell. I've never seen a direct trigger such as this before that I can recall. The pain was the usual type I get from this problem - I suspect somehow the head movement was interrupting descending inhibition processes, causing the pain to leak through somehow.

I've only made this a couple of times but it's really easy and I love the flavor. If you can, use all of the ingredients to get the full palette of flavors. I use fresh or canned tomatoes and I don't worry about peeling them. If you don't have harissa, there are replacement recipes online. If you don't have the greens, I suggest adding a little chopped baby spinach or celery leaves to add a dash of green color to this red dish. Best eaten in first couple days because flavor tends to fade. Leftovers are still good, but not as vibrant. Ingredients 2 medium eggplants, partially peeled and cut into cubes (original recipe says 1 in, but I prefer 1/2 to 3/4 in) 2 tomatoes, peeled and crushed 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped or minced 1 tablespoon fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons spicy harissa (I use Mina brand) 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon paprika ½ teaspoon black pepper 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional) Salt to taste Preparation     • Heat olive oil in skillet or pot over medium heat. Add all ingredients and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and cook on low heat for an additional 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.       • Serve warm or cold as a side or with bread for dipping. Enjoy! Original recipe is here, if you want to see photos: mina.co/blogs/recipes/zaalouk-moroccan-eggplant-salad

I checked consumer labs that I'm a member of they independently check products for safely and claims the wolfs was rated great and bobs redmill buckwheat cereal. Ultra low gotten no dangerous levels of arsenic heavy metals, mold, yeast etc. plus they mention to refrigerate. I wonder if the raw buckwheat they rinse bc it's not toasted like kasha. Toasted removes the grassy taste I have to try the one you mentioned. I also bought Qia which is a quinoa mixed got great reviews.
