Accidental Glutening!

For other newbies, PLEASE be careful about products that have changed their formulas! I had checked on my Ty Ling Chinese mustard and found that it's gluten-free, but halfway thru dinner I happened to glance at the bottle and "wheat starch" was listed! The new bottles don't have it, but the old bottle I had been working on for awhile did.

All my hard work avoiding every speck of gluten down the drain! Ugh!!!!!

It's a hard habit to get into, but we need to read the label EVERY TIME we shop. I am guilty of not doing so at times too. Wouldn't it be great if someone would open a chain of totally gluten-free grocery stores?

That sounds heavenly Bart! I do have a totally gluten free grocery store about 40 minutes from home but who wants to drive 40 minutes to shop when I could spend less time out just by reading labels. It gets so annoying though and I just want to be able to walk in and buy stuff. I have to spend every trip to the store telling myself every label, every time.

We all make mistakes, don't beat yourself up. If I make a mistake I just call it an object lesson and vow never to make it again.

I've done this exact thing many times. Thankfully I catch this mistake most of the time. Recently I decided to make some brats for dinner, went to the store and grabbed the ones I get and didn't realize until I was putting them in the pan that they were beer brats and not the ones I normally get. I used to get mad when I did this but now I'm just thankful I catch it. Sometimes I don't catch it though. I try my hardest to read labels and be cautious, but I've also accepted that this is going to happen every now and then no matter how careful I am.
