At-Home Dna Testing For Celiac

Has anyone heard of this DNA test kit for celiac, and do you know anything about it? Open Original Shared Link

I've seen a few different references to it now in my researching. It's supposed to be more thorough and 100% accurate. My alpha-gliadin IgA gluten test came back high and I just read on an article in this site that this test is 97% accurate for diagnosing celiac disease (and not just gluten sensitivity); is that correct? I have several autoimmune conditions and definitely react negatively to gluten with bloating, stomach pain and discomfort and arthritis very soon after eating it. I thought I had gluten sensitivity and have stayed away from it but am not ultra-diligent. However, after reading that, I'm wondering if I should take it more seriously and be more careful at restaurants, with cross-contamination, etc. I want to keep my autoimmune reactions as well controlled as possible.

Thank you!! :)

Check if you can get sample results. Check to see if they explain the result. I used another company and was given an explanation of what the test means and counseled on diet. I felt they were very generous.

That's a good idea Diana, thank you. What company did you use and was it recent?

The forum won't let me say. They say this company spammed them. But I did have a good experience, so I don't quite understand it. I tried to PM you, but it showed up back in my own box. ?

I would think that if your alpha-gliadin IgA gluten test came back high, then your doctor would order further testing.

Thank you both. I haven't had access to the test results but will get them and post here.

The ulcers are prepyloric ulcers. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Duodenal ulcers are not uncommon either and often result from H.Pylori infections. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/duodenal-ulcer

I had what was termed "lesions," and normally ulcers are in the stomach, rather than the small intestines. I'm not sure why they would want you to have her continue to eat gluten, since she had a positive blood test, but as her doctor said, if she is uncomfortable and having symptoms why not have her go gluten-free at this point? If her symptoms improve, it would be another indicator that she has celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
