  1. Then, just read the "real" info. You consistently say the "old timers" are not helping you or are not nice to you on here, hon. This grieves me because that's just not true. You were openly rude to me a while ago on the dinner chat thread and I still do not know why. We ARE helping you. The other day for example, you questioned "caramel coloring"..we already...
  2. okay, let's get back to you, diana w...since this is your thread. Please do not stress over CC. (stress does nothing but cause inflammation and wrinkles )
  3. yes, yes!, and hell yes. because that's a lawyer's job. I have read the 86- page Massachusetts law about food allergens in schools, BTW and it is very complex. I hardly think the "no food processed in a facility rule" is really what the school policy even "intended". That's just not possible, since kiddos bring lunches from home. To the OP...
  4. That's probably a good idea since your unsubstantiated comment to StephanieL took this thread way off topic now. IMHO
  5. I will hazard a guess and say...from many years of reading posts on this forum? IMHO of course.
  6. Well, if any of the moderators should come by and think StephanieL is violating the rules, I am sure they'll let us know. She was speaking from experience. She has given the OP her opinion--essentially in support of the OP's stance--and that's the point of the thread. Other posters, like Cara, gave her some very good suggestions. And that's my...
  7. Oh come now, Steph..let's be real here I have seen dozens of flagrant violations of this particular rule, especially on the super sensitive section where people's "anecdotal evidence" is ALL that is ever used to support various "theories" and thoughts and when moderators have asked for sources, we've been blasted for it. I think you're taking issue...
  8. I like your kitty Kat, K. (and you think I don't notice). Also like your quote--good one. I you. I am thinking about you and your Mom and sending hugs. Okee dokee, this evening is shaping up to be pizza night. (what? you say! but it is not Friday night!) I know. I know. but my friend with the G F bakery sent me some nice fresh flour...
  9. Excellent and useful article--thanks very much for posting. The folate deficiency was one I had to figure out myself as my original doctor never tested me for it. I kept reporting fatigue even after 6 months and he kept saying "but your B-12 and iron and thyroid is stable now". Glad to see this was discussed in the article. Also explains my gall bladder...
  10. For a second there, Ruth, I thought you were going to tell us that you had gained a few inches! That you were taller (or wider) Just teasing you! I am very happy for you. Give yourself some major props. You worked hard to sort all this out. Yes, you got some assistance.....and now, you are helping others--- to pay it forward. It's all good. ...
  11. First of all, a biopsy for celiac is done in the small intestine, not the stomach, so this test is not really valid. If you are gluten free, then reintroduce gluten and have the symptoms you describe here: I woke up feeling really far away, lightheaded and anxious, really horrible. The next morning I had a spell of heart palpitations. I felt better by...

    ARCHIVED Pizza

Barty...I am just so happy for you!! getting to enjoy pizza again....awesome!!
  13. Time. Probiotics. Enormous patience. Despite what some internet sources may say, "magical healing aids" for "sealing leaky guts" do not exist. No science or medical basis for any of them, sorry. The gluten- damaged gut lining in the vast majority of celiacs will heal when you remove gluten. Some of us have other food intolerances, but those...
  14. That was nice of him, but honestly, I liked him as Puddy.
  15. Zat's what I'm zayin! zoodles.
  16. Ruth I would be having zoodles every night. lol I love them sauteed in EVOO and garlic. but you could also make this; http://www.elanaspantry.com/paleo-chocolate-zucchini-bread/ or this: http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/2011/09/zucchini-gratin.html
  17. I never use conditioner because I have thin hair and all it does is weight it down, so I have no advice regarding that product. I would like to add: I have never found a single medical or scientific study (and you know I read a ton of those!) that says hydrolyzed wheat protein will cause any problems for celiacs (DH or otherwise). It does not cause...
  18. After much thought (okay. maybe about 20 minutes while finishing my coffee which I did not spill or spit this morning, so yaay for me!) I am thinking a good way to utilize the rest of the roasted chicken (and by the way, those Vietnamese chicken salad rolls are ridiculously good, if I say so myself!) is to make Chicken Tettrazini...with a side of roasted...
  19. well, I've got that too, but there's nothing wrong with admiring the "view of other tall dark and handsomes"..... I call that a healthy appreciation for the human form. all looky, no touchy...like walking through a museum....
  20. I'd like to suggest reading Real Life with Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis and Daniel Leffler, MD It is a fantastic resource for the newly diagnosed and their families and covers just about everything involved with understanding and coping with this disease. You're going to be okay! hang in there. Most of us had all the symptoms (and more!) that you...
  21. RE; low platelets (thrombocytopenia) --yes! to being associated with celiac. but after being on a G F diet for a while, it will likely resolve. "Celiac disease may also be associated with thrombocytosis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, venous thromboembolism, hyposplenism, and IgA deficiency. 22. I remember a time when you did not know how to use emoticons. Now look at you! ha.... "tall, dark and beyond handsome"....now, yer talking.....
  23. oh baby, I bought a bigass bottle of it at the Asian market...glug glug glug
  24. Some brand of Irish tea has barley in it too. Gemini learned that one the hard way while flying to the UK. I do not eat it, myself, but I know that "imitation crab" has gluten in it and many people use that for sushi or "crabmeat salad". Note: just buy real crabmeat. I was surprised by a Bernaise sauce that had gluten in it. I make classic bernaise...
  25. geesh..almost forgot. I found Talenti Chocolate Covered Sea Salt Caramel Gelato Pops at BJs. we walked a mile first, then ate one. Now, you all know Sunday night is ice cream night in our house....so... do you think it "offsets" the calories? the walking thing? c'mon lie to me. ps. looks like even Walmart's has them! http://www.walmart.com/ip...
