Welcome to the forum, @Bill K! Hello, @GfreeOH. I've had Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and Histamine Intolerance. I supplemented with Thiamine Vitamin B 1 (and the rest of the eight B vitamins and minerals). Thiamine helps keep Mast Cells from releasing their histamine (degranulation). Vitamin C and B12 help the body clear histamine. Metformin...

@MissTeaMuse, Welcome to the forum! You have "HLA-DQA1*05 Positive" which is a gene for Celiac Disease. Your DGP antibody test is positive. These are positive test results for Celiac Disease. It may be a low risk, but it has happened. Terrible acid reflux is actually a symptom of low stomach acid, so taking PPI's further reduces stomach...

Feels like I can’t eat anything
knitty kitty replied to SargeMaximus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@SargeMaximus, Yes, beans have enough fiber. -
@TB93, I think it was the potatoes. Potatoes and other nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, and peppers) contain alkaloids that promote "leaky gut" and inflammation. I get achy joints and swelling. My hands get so puffy and stuff I can't knit! I hope you feel better! Drink plenty of fluids. Vitamins C, B12, and Pyridoxine B6 can...

@kab3706, Some younger people can have negative ttg-IgA, but be positive on DGP-IgA test. Were you eating gluten consistently in the two to three months before your blood tests? The tTg-IgA tests for antibodies to gluten. If you were gluten free, you would not have been making antibodies, and the test would give a false negative. Do you...

Feels like I can’t eat anything
knitty kitty replied to SargeMaximus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@SargeMaximus, Cheers for eating gluten free! Are you getting enough fiber? Eat leafy greens. Collards, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens. Skip spinach, it's high in oxalates (which form kidney stones). Why not at lunch? If you're doing such physical work, keeping thiamine levels up would be beneficial. Glad you had a good day... -

@SargeMaximus, Are you getting enough healthy fats? Avocado oil, coconut oil, flaxseed oil, extra virgin olive oil? Can you tolerate dairy? Someone used to put a stick of butter in their coffee in order to get fats. Healthy fats are in fatty fish like salmon. Single serving foil packets of salmon are available. Precooked... -
Symptoms in 20 months child
knitty kitty replied to Papafma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
@Papafma, Young children need to be tested using the DGP test (Deaminated Gliadin Peptide test). Infants and small children's immune systems are not as developed as adults'. Children don't start making tTg antibodies until they are older. Some young adults only test positive on the DGP tests. You might want to consider doing genetic testing... -
Celiac Disease is genetic. A child gets one gene from the father and one gene from the mother. One gene is all that is necessary to develop Celiac Disease. Usually the Celiac gene is inactive until a stressor occurs. A stressor can be an emotional trauma or physical trauma. An illness like Chicken Pox, mononucleosis, the flu, Covid...

Do be aware that Celiac Disease is hereditary. Lactose intolerance, urticaria, thyroid problems and increase in allergies can be symptoms of underlying Celiac Disease. Your children should be checked for Celiac Disease. Your husband should be glad your "illness" is improved by a change in diet. He should be thankful you don't need expensive...

Gout is a build up of uric acid. Thiamine helps the body process the uric acid out of the body. Try supplementing with Benfotiamine. It's cleared mine up. Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/

@SargeMaximus, Have you tried meaty snacks like turkey or beef jerky for work snacks? Larabars are easy snacks, mostly dates and nuts. Sticking to gluten free alternatives are better than going back on gluten which will increase inflammation. Try increasing the amount of Thiamine. Some people don't get results until they take 500... -

Leg pains that come and go all night
knitty kitty replied to Attanett's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Attanett, Thiamine Vitamin B 1 deficiency will cause leg cramps and neuropathy in the hands and feet. Thiamine deficiency symptoms can worsen in the summer, especially if active outdoors. I experienced severe leg cramps and tingly hands at night and in the daytime when I was Thiamine deficient. Thiamine is NOT one of the vitamins routinely... -
Extreme Sleepiness, Weakness and Shakiness?
knitty kitty replied to Ginger38's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Ginger38, Sorry it's taken so long to reply. We've had some connectivity issues. I started the AIP diet because I was having difficulty controlling my blood glucose levels. On Metformin, I had lows when it kicked in and then highs as it wore off. Add in Gastroparesis and I was a mess. I also started Vitamin D supplements. Vitamin D helps... -

@itarachiu, Have you increased your healthy fats? Avocado oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil? Cod liver oil? Fatty fish like salmon? I take flaxseed oil supplements and evening primrose oil to get the healthy omega threes and omega sixes. Including healthy fats gives the body an alternative fuel to burn instead of carbohydrates. You have... -
Extreme Sleepiness, Weakness and Shakiness?
knitty kitty replied to Ginger38's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Ginger38, Gluten free facsimile foods are not allowed on the Autoimmune Protocol Diet (AIP), if you're going to do the AIP diet. Gluten free facsimile foods are not enriched with vitamins and minerals like their gluten containing counterparts. So you basically had a high carbohydrate meal after skipping a previous meal. Skipping meals... -

Extreme Sleepiness, Weakness and Shakiness?
knitty kitty replied to Ginger38's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Ginger38, Are you keeping a food journal? Is there a food that might have been eaten prior to this reaction? Some people have been known to faint when exposed to gluten. Have you eaten a high carbohydrate load before these episodes? Are these episodes related to POTS? Were you physically active beforehand? What other medical... -
