Medical Research On Blood Tests

Recommended Posts

I have a GI that bullied me into taking the blood tests. He said they were the gold standard. I had asked him several times about them not being right because I didn't eat bread, etc. and he blew me off. I can't get another GI.

Is there any list of the medical research showing that the blood tests may give false negatives if you've maybe had a bite or two of bread or pasta or cookies in the past year? I want to produce it and ask him if he would do the biopsy.

Thanks,

Victoria

Hello Victoria, and welcome to the board.  You can find information to give your doctor about the necessity for eating gluten for testing here:

When you read this you will note that you also need to be eating gluten for the biopsy to be positive.  If you've had only a bite or two of gluten in the past year it is highly doubtful that you would have a positive biopsy :(
