I Have A Question About The Gallbladder And I Didn't Know Where To Put It...so It's Here. :)

Recommended Posts

Ok...a little history on myself. I'm 35. I have 3 kids (18,15 and 6). My 6 year old is the one who's led us down the road with Celiac. We've all been tested and it's come back negative.

Now, my question stems from a pain I've had since I was pregnant with my 6 year old. Ever since I was pregnant with him, I've had this pain in my ribs. It's a bad, unpleasant pain but nothing I can't generally suck up and deal with. The doctor (OB) had me try physical therapy. Ummm....all that did was make the poor therapist feel terrible because the stretches we tried *the very basic, very easy* stretches caused me so much more pain, I was in tears. Never went back to physical therapy and it's never been offered. They had to turn my little guy as he was breech. We always chalked this pain up to it being a pinched nerve. During the first version, the doctor got little man turned half way, hit that pain spot and I about jumped off the table. Made the nurse cry and I can't even describe the look on my husband's face. Scheduled me for a c-section the following Monday on the condition that they tried to turn him again when I was all drugged up and not feeling anything. Got him turned and 5 hours later he arrived in this world (looking like a little alien but still adorable! They should really warn you about what happens with the baby when they are born so soon after being breech!) I felt like I got ran over by a truck for a couple weeks but considering the doc was actually on top of me wrenching the baby around....it makes sense.

Now, I'm not big on going to the doctor unless it's something that I can no longer tolerate or deal with on my own. I have been in to see a new doctor due to the Celiac issues with my youngest. I'm vitamin D deficient but other than that everything is good. Still have the pain. Told the doctor about the pain....she brushed it off...though probably because I didn't focus on it. At that point I was more worried about Celiac.

So this is the weird thing. We went gluten free as a household around July 6th. Little man is still working on feeling better but low and behold, I was feeling different. Even to the point that that nagging pain in my ribs disappeared. Gone. A pain I'd lived with for 6 years was gone! Just gone! Well...up until 2 days ago. Now it's back and it's worse and it's in a slightly different spot. Similar location but not quite like the pain before....so I'm not sure what is going on. There's been a bit of dizziness and heartburn and tired oh I'm so tired but so unable to sleep (freaking insomnia!)

But, no fever or vomiting or D or C. I have no idea what's going on. Not even sure I should call the doctor or not. Ah....what is going on?!?!

If it's your gall bladder you need testing done. I would recommend a gall bladder test with the CCK contrast (this contrast is the key), here why. The normal test will show gall stones (if you have any), but at the end of the test they issue the CCK contrast and that shows gall bladder function. With mine they couldn't find stones after a couple tests and I was in pain and throwing up green bile, finally the doc requested the CCK contrast and it showed the gall bladder was failing at 13% function.

I would start with tests. A lot of us have had gall bladder issues, removal and what not. My pain started much like yours; I went gluten free and gone. Then it was back with a vengeance.

Ok....I figured I'd find someone that had some information. I'm not getting nauseous or throwing up (thank goodness!!!) but I will put in a call to my doctor and see what she says. Thank you for your reply.

Hmmm...and now the pain is completely gone again. It hadn't moved or done anything really for the last 6 years, except occasionally get worse and now it's coming and going? What? There have been a couple times when I've had random pain so bad it messed with my vision but that is extremely rare and extremely random.

It's weird.

Definitely will put a call in to my doctor next week. Oy.
