Is There Such A Thing As Low Igg?

I have heard that low IgA can void the test results for gluten antibody.  The alternate or the test that works together with it looks for IgG antibioties.  I am wondering if this can also be lacking in our bodies?

If you have the same question, let me know, or stay tuned.  I am going to ask the nurse about this tomorrow.  If you know the answer, let me know!

I am on the same page.  I was screened for Celiac due to having a large number of associated symptoms that have become debilitating.  I received my results and out of 24 markers (12 IgG and 12 IgA), all 12 IgG were low and one IgA was low.  I was told it was inconclusive and that I have a problem with gluten, but whether it's a sensitivity or celiac is not clear.  I am wondering whether I should pursue other testing.  Thanks for asking the question that is on my mind, too.

Sorry, forgot to mention.  I am taking a steroid nasal spray and was told this may have affected the results as well.  I don't know if that helps with your question.

I didn't know anyone was counting on me for this answer. :(   I talked to the Functional Medicine Nurse for two hours and never asked this question.  I had so many questions.  The answer  may help my children, but they are grown ups now, and need to make decisions and plans for themselves.   If they are not listening about celiac, I am not sure the answer will change them.  I will try to answer this as time goes on.

One other question about it is if the small intestine (or even the villi) manufacture IgA and IgG?  I think I might have seen that once, but?

I had what was termed "lesions," and normally ulcers are in the stomach, rather than the small intestines. I'm not sure why they would want you to have her continue to eat gluten, since she had a positive blood test, but as her doctor said, if she is uncomfortable and having symptoms why not have her go gluten-free at this point? If her symptoms improve, it would be another indicator that she has celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):

In the USA we also do a fruit cake that probably has UK origins, and my grandmother's always had lots of rum in it. I just found these:

Since the originator of the group no is no longer active here, I put you in charge...perhaps you can revive it?

Scanlan, any luck with the b1 vitamins or anything else ? New celiac of 10 months and anytime I push myself i over exert myself with weights I’m exhausted for several days afterwards.  Had a blood test done too and everything was normal.  Thanks !

My daughter had her endoscopy today. The Dr said it looked normal but she has two small ulcers. The Dr took 16 biopsies, ahold have the results in a few days. She told her to keep eating gluten until we get the biopsy results unless it’s bothering her stomach too much.  has anyone else had ulcers with celiac?
