My Post Was Changed

Hi,

I posted today the response I got from a Clinique rep about the gluten content of their makeup. Most of the products I use are gluten-free and I was happy and was sharing the list in case others could be helped.

When I came back to the board later, the topic description of my post had been changed to "Most contain wheat." I definitely did not write that, because that's not the info I got. It may or may not be true, but I hate that it's somehow attributed to me, when I have no info to back that up.

For what it's worth, that does seem to be the position of someone who replied to my post, so maybe they were somehow able to overwrite it?

Can you tell me what's happening here?

Thank you for your help and for running these great message boards!

WGibs

That is very weird, and I have never heard of that happening before. I know for a fact that moderators do not have the option or authority to edit other people's posts. Perhaps other moderators more experienced than me or Scott can chime in on this one.....

That is strange. I'm pretty sure I pinned that particular topic. I remember reading it a couple times and not understanding why it said "most contain wheat" because it didnt seem to go with the original post.

I know when I first posted it, it did not say that. You're right -- it doesn't make sense that way. Somehow between the time I posted and it got pinned, it mutated!

In fact, I had trouble coming up with a "description," and ended up with something dumb like "response from Clinique about makeup" And now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that when I first posted, my main topic line was just "Clinique," not "Clinique Products" like it is now. It seems that somehow my post was merged with the one that shows up as a response.

I hope someone can change it because I feel like I'm bashing Clinique when I meant to do the opposite. Thank you for your help!

The only way it could have been changed is if I changed it--and I didn't because I don't do that (I simply don't have time or the inclination). You can edit your own posts so feel free to do so.

Definitely worth speaking to your gastroenterologist about this. My own told me that by using Gaviscon a barrier forms over the contents of the stomach and stops gas and acid irritating the throat.  In fact, he said to me that because I found relief using Gaviscon that was a very clear indicator that reflux was the cause of that particular issue.   A wedge pillow will really help with this - or raising the top bed legs with bricks.

I did get the pneumonia vaccine about 4 years ago. I had this amazing allergist who did all those vitamin deficiencies test and told to get that vaccine. Unfortunately she retired.  I haven’t been to an allergist in a few years,  I’m not sure what my levels are now. I did have a pulmonologist who wasn’t concern and said I seemed fine to him that I was young etc. But yes I think I should at the very least get a different opinion. Thank you for your reply

Yes I do have acid reflux. I’m not on anything for it at the moment. I sometimes wonder if that’s what it could be because I get heart burn every night. I may revisit my gastrointestinal doctor again. Thanks for the reply

Hi @HelloFlowersGoodbyeFlour I wonder if you suffer from reflux, as if you do, you may find it could also be irritating your airways.  I shall explain: I have to use a blue inhaler from time to time, and it seems to be related to reflux.  Never had any trouble before my coeliac diagnosis, the reflux seemed to be something that developed following a holiday to France in 2019, where I had been exposed to gluten.    The reflux continued into the autumn and winter, my throat itched to begin with, particularly after meals, but it then that feeling of irritation seemed to spread to my lungs.  I even found it difficult to breathe on occasion. What stopped it in its tracks was using a wedge pillow at night, following a reflux diet (you can find them online), not eating 2-4 hours before bed and also having a dose of Gaviscon Advanced at night, which forms a barrier so that acid/food can't go back up your esophagus.  The throat irritation faded, and then I found it easier to breathe again. Just mentioning in case it could be a contributing factor.

Since initially getting your D checked a few years ago, has it since rebounded to normal levels? Sounds like at some point you got it checked again.
