We are looking for some input on the products out on the market for reducing and controlling tartar buildup and managing problem gums.

We were prescribed special products from the Periodontist. She prescribed Colgate Tartar Control Toothpaste. On a side note, I noticed that there is a dental product called SPRY especially for reducing bacteria using Xylitol.

BTW, folic acid seems to have improved the condition of my husband's gums. He still needed to see a Periodontist but he certainly did heal well. :D

I found that going gluten-free greatly improved my gum health. Previously they were painfully inflamed at the 6 month cleaning, and now they never are.

Just make sure the products that you use for the periodontal care don't themselves contain gluten. Some toothpastes do, I know. I use Aquafresh or Sensitive teeth because I read somewhere it is gluten free.
