Lisa, the only time when it matters how high your fever is, is when you're poisoned. In which case your body won't know when to stop the heat, and it can kill you (normally it won't get higher than your body can handle).

Having a fever means that your body is fighting something, and not a concern in itself. Don't try to bring it down, it is meant to kill whatever is attacking your body. Often a fever is the first sign of a cold or the flu coming on. I hope you're not getting sick. If you have vitamin C in the house, take lots (like 4000 mg at a time). Eat garlic if you have any (or take garlic pills), zinc is good, as is extra vitamin A. If you have multiple vitamins, take an extra one.

Drink a lot (NOT juice) and rest. That's the best you can do. Don't have anything containing sugar, as a teaspoon of sugar will incapacitate your immune system by 50% within half an hour of eating it, and the last thing you want to do is weaken your immune system while you're getting sick.

I hope you will be okay.

Too late, already having the tea with sugar  I'll drink it plain after this. is it safe to wear layers to feel warm, or do i have to totally freeze to death? The last time I had a bad fever I went to ER (and it was like 103)..and then gave me a shot. How I wish I could do that right now...

BTW, landlady dont have a thermometer either :(

I used to get fevers as my only symptom with UTIs. No other symptoms at all. Take lots of zinc lozenges.

I didn't know that! Thanks Ursula :)

Still feel super sick, not QUITE as bad as last night but still bad enough. my mom was supposed to phone the college for me to say i'm not coming in today. I cant afford to miss the review, but I dont wanna feel more sick either! So I plan to rest and maybe catch up on some notes while I rest(that dont take much concentration haha).

My dad brought a thermometre for me this morning, just checked my temp and it tells me 99.2 (which means I definitely must have been over 100  ). Blah...

Aw, sorry you still don't feel well :(

I think you're wise to rest up--that's what your body needs right now. Keep drinking those fluids, and I hope you get better real soon! :D

Thanks. Well my fever went totally down today, in fact my temp was below normal!! (like 97). Then by 9 pm it was back up to 99.1, now its 99.6. WHY?!

Lisa,

My experience has been (and the advice of my mother( a woman to be taken seriously)) that when you first get up from bed after being sick you will feel great. Then after a while you will feel tired and your fever will go up.

I just talked to my hiusband ( an ER nurse) and he said it has to do with your sarcadian rythem. Your temp will normally be highest in the evening. Try googling "body temp" and "fever" to get a more indepth answer.

Hope this helps.

Sorry you're still sick. Yes, it is just fine to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you feel cold, pile on the layers, and when you're too hot, take them off.

No need to drink your tea plain. Sweeten it with honey or maple syrup, those are fine. If you have any (or somebody can get it for you), drink Echinacea tea. It revs up your immune system, and it tastes nice, too.

And yes, I agree with Patti, rest is very important. Your body is working overtime trying to get you well, and can do it best when at rest.

I hope you feel better soon.

Bread has about 8 g of protein per 100 g, so a piece of bread weighing 125 mg contains 10 mg of gluten. Bread has a density of about 0.25 g/ml, so 0.5 ml of bread contains 10 mg of gluten - i.e. a bread ball 1 cm in diameter. I think it would be unlikely to ingest this much from throwing bread out for the birds.

Sciatica came to mind for me as well. You might want to get some imaging done on your C-spine.

Maybe this is sciatica? When mine acts up a little, I switch my wallet from one back pocket to the other. this isn't a substitute for more serious medical help, but for me it's a bandaid.

OK so I just learned something completely new about this for the first time in years, that is REALLY WEIRD. One of my nerves that likes to "burn" or whatever is doing it every time I bow my head! I mean it is completely repeatable. Literally every time. Once my head goes beyond a certain angle *boom*. Nerve goes mental (lower right leg pain). What the hell. I've never seen a direct trigger such as this before that I can recall. The pain was the usual type I get from this problem - I suspect somehow the head movement was interrupting descending inhibition processes, causing the pain to leak through somehow.

I've only made this a couple of times but it's really easy and I love the flavor. If you can, use all of the ingredients to get the full palette of flavors. I use fresh or canned tomatoes and I don't worry about peeling them. If you don't have harissa, there are replacement recipes online. If you don't have the greens, I suggest adding a little chopped baby spinach or celery leaves to add a dash of green color to this red dish. Best eaten in first couple days because flavor tends to fade. Leftovers are still good, but not as vibrant. Ingredients 2 medium eggplants, partially peeled and cut into cubes (original recipe says 1 in, but I prefer 1/2 to 3/4 in) 2 tomatoes, peeled and crushed 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped or minced 1 tablespoon fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons spicy harissa (I use Mina brand) 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon paprika ½ teaspoon black pepper 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional) Salt to taste Preparation     • Heat olive oil in skillet or pot over medium heat. Add all ingredients and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and cook on low heat for an additional 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.       • Serve warm or cold as a side or with bread for dipping. Enjoy! Original recipe is here, if you want to see photos: mina.co/blogs/recipes/zaalouk-moroccan-eggplant-salad
