Dinner Tonight

Recommended Posts

I was invited to a birthday dinner tonight and unfortunately the

restaurant does not have gluten-free menu.

I was looking at their menu and trying to pick out something simple.

Does this look ok to you? (of course, I'll double check to make sure

their dressing is gluten-free). Anything else I should ask our waiter?

baby greens, tomato wedges, asparagus, cucumbers and

I would take your own dressing. Some balsamic 'flavored' vinegars have gluten. Some salad dressings have gluten. Just bring your own so you don't have to worry about it.

Be sure to tell them they can't get any crumbs in your salad -- they need to mix it in a clean bowl.

Ask them if their salad ingredients are kept away from the sandwich preparation area ... the restaurant my son used to work at had the salads and sandwiches prepared in the same area, so everything was contaminated.

Call the restaurant ahead of time and speak to the manager. He/She will most likely be able to guide you. If they're totally ignorant about gluten/food allergies perhaps it would be best to just eat before you go and then just enjoy everyone else's company while you're there.
