Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I came across this in some research and had some questions about it.

- can celiac disease come first, followed by other autoimmune diseases

- what are the risk factors/ statistics of having this

- is this genetically or environmentally caused

I just started my research on this but I am not a great researcher so if you guys could point me in the right direction it would be much apreciated.

I've been reading a little about that too. If you type "polyglandular autoimmune syndrome" into Google, the first three results that come up are pretty good Medscape articles on the three different types. They answer most of your questions. :)

Skylark, I had to chuckle a little when I read the symptoms of celiac in these articles. No wonder doctors have a hard time diagnosing it.

"For celiac disease, symptoms are weight loss, steatorrhea, bloating, cramping, and malnutrition."
