A friend told me today of her neighbor who has uc. She mentioned that her neighbor is in very poor health recently from the uc. I was thinking it might be related to celiac disease. Is is? I didn't see it in the list of related disorders. Can someone clarify for me?

Ok, I've found some links... Nothing too definitive or clear for me to print out and offer any help. Is there a better site for this connection? If I can't find anything I feel comfortable sharing with the lady, I won't bother to even bring it up. I just felt really bad for her *I don't know her* listening to my friend talking about how she's doing very poorly and needs help with her children. If I thought celiac disease info or a gluten free diet could help, I'd go over armed with some info to at least let her decide what to do -or not do. Thanks for any info you come up with. Even if it's to let me know a gluten free diet doesn't help.

I know that microscopic colitis can be improved by avoiding gluten. I don't know for sure about UC - someone here on this list has it though... can't remember who. Sounds like a horrible disease though. I read a book, it was a collection of essays about friends who stopped being friends (you know how when a couple breaks up, people go through that process, but when best friends "break up" it's sort of different? and yet the same?) Anyway, one of the last essays was about someone who went through having UC and - forget the pun - it was a gut wrenching story. I was in tears - that is not something anyone would ever want to have.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about your friend's friend. That is a misery.

      Sciatica came to mind for me as well. You might want to get some imaging done on your C-spine.

      Maybe this is sciatica? When mine acts up a little, I switch my wallet from one back pocket to the other. this isn't a substitute for more serious medical help, but for me it's a bandaid.

One of my nerves that likes to "burn" or whatever is doing it every time I bow my head! I mean it is completely repeatable. Literally every time. Once my head goes beyond a certain angle *boom*.       I've only made this a couple of times but it's really easy and I love the flavor. If you can, use all of the ingredients to get the full palette of flavors. Nerve goes mental (lower right leg pain). What the hell. I've never seen a direct trigger such as this before that I can recall. The pain was the usual type I get from this problem - I suspect somehow the head movement was interrupting descending inhibition processes, causing the pain to leak through somehow.

      I've only made this a couple of times but it's really easy and I love the flavor. If you can, use all of the ingredients to get the full palette of flavors. I use fresh or canned tomatoes and I don't worry about peeling them. If you don't have harissa, there are replacement recipes online. If you don't have the greens, I suggest adding a little chopped baby spinach or celery leaves to add a dash of green color to this red dish. Best eaten in first couple days because flavor tends to fade. Leftovers are still good, but not as vibrant. Ingredients 2 medium eggplants, partially peeled and cut into cubes (original recipe says 1 in, but I prefer 1/2 to 3/4 in) 2 tomatoes, peeled and crushed 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped or minced 1 tablespoon fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons spicy harissa (I use Mina brand) 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon paprika ½ teaspoon black pepper 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional) Salt to taste Preparation     • Heat olive oil in skillet or pot over medium heat. Add all ingredients and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and cook on low heat for an additional 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.       • Serve warm or cold as a side or with bread for dipping. Enjoy!       I checked consumer labs that I'm a member of they independently check products for safely and claims the wolfs was rated great and bobs redmill buckwheat cereal. Ultra low gotten no dangerous levels of arsenic heavy metals, mold, yeast etc. plus they mention to refrigerate. I wonder if the raw buckwheat they rinse bc it's not toasted like kasha. Toasted removes the grassy taste I have to try the one you mentioned. I also bought Qia which is a quinoa mixed got great reviews.
