About Me

I was diagnosed with celiac disease in October 2008 after almost 2 1/2 years of fatigue, anemia , iron deficiency and heartburn. I had a positive IgA tTG and biopsy.

I have two sons. My youngest went gluten free 11/19/10 after a positive tTG and no EGD/biopsy. My oldest son has had repeated negative blood work and negative scope/biopsy in Aug. 2011. He is currently undergoing a gluten free trial.

I enjoy time with my family and anything to do with the outdoors. I also like gardening, canning, cooking and baking.

  1. Made chicken parmesan, side salad and steamed asparagus.
  2. My youngest son and I don't eat Kind bars because of the cc from gluten free oats. My oldest son is fine with them.
  3. It might be a good idea to ask for the full celiac panel to be redone. So many people do not get the whole thing done. These tests include: total IgA, IgA/IgG tTG, IgA EMA, IgG/IgA DGP. Also when you have your scope you need to make sure the endoscopist takes a minimum of 8-10 samples from the...
  4. Not before diagnosis. But a year later I developed it. Long story short I discovered I was reacting to gluten free oat cross contamination in gluten free products. I went on prescription creon and ate very clean and in three months time it cleared up. If I get CC's from gluten now or oat CC then...
  5. My main symptom was acid reflux also. My youngest son had reflux since an infant that "seemed" to go away by the time he was 3.5 and before I was diagnosed. Had him tested and was negative, so we thought we were in the clear. Two years later, he started complaining of acid reflux again, fat in...
  6. I was reading up on a condition that a patient of mine tonight had and I thought it might be worth mentioning. antipospholipid antibody syndrome From what I read it is autoimmune and can be found with other autoimmune conditions/diseases and can cause blood clots. Here are a few links...
  7. I've found CVS to be less than helpful. Seems every time I needed a RX I had to jump through hoops to get any information. I was told by a pharmacist that they don't have internet access or manufacturers phone numbers. I was instructed to go home look it up on my own. One time I asked to see...
  8. We tried our local MM about 4 months ago. It was nice to have an option for eating out. We all liked it enough, but I agree the crust was a little grainy and thin. My oldest son(almost 11) went there yesterday with his friend. He ordered a gluten free pizza. I sent him with some money to...
  9. Hi, I hope all is well. Do you know of any support groups in the Johnson City area? Or any people that get together to share recipes and experiences? Thank you

  10. Heya,

I was reading in a recent post that you react to gluten-free oat contamination, yes? Would you have any suggestions for brands to avoid or brands that have been safe for you? Trying to find some for my daughter. :-)

  11. My 10.5 year old had been complaining he can't fall asleep for the past few nights and that he is tired after school. He is currently doing a trial of gluten free and has been completely gluten free since Monday. Not sure if it is related or not...hmm
  12. I just contactd Blue Bell and they sent me two gluten free lists. Here is their contact number. The representative I spoke with sent me them via e-mail. It made one happy 6 1/2 year old little boy. Now he is able to buy an occasional icecream treat at school. Consumer Relations Blue Bell...
  13. Even with the gluten free contrast diarrhea can be a side effect but there is also a chance what you got wasn't gluten free also. Stay well hydrated. It is not abnormal to have whiteish stools as you pass it. If your symptoms don't ease up after several days you can always consult your doctor...
