  1. Welcome! I can't answer most of your questions, but wanted to check...were you ever tested for Celiac Disease? You need to be tested before removing gluten as the antibodies that are tested for are produced only in response to gluten consumption!!! I know on the FaceBook Mast Cell and other internet Mast Cell forums there is a much larger mix of folks...
  2. No truer words. Hugs.
  3. I had an 8 day hospital stay in 2010 at UCSD...couldn't eat for first 5 days anyway, but when able there was nothing but ensure, yogurt and ice cream bars that were gluten free. I've seen some improvement at another San Diego hospital that my mother has had a few stays in, but UCSD remains woefully unable to cater to those with Celiac Disease. There usually...
  4. Hi Ladies....it isn't a delicious meal, but I utililize the new-ish squeeze pouches made for babies and toddlers...although me and my adult kids call them astronaut food...between those, packing fruit that doesn't bruise easily, nuts and freezing real food before I leave home I am good to go in a car or air travel for at least three days...I have never gone...
  5. Red corn sounds cool...can't remember where I heard someone was making "Christmas Enchiladas" with red corn tortillas...oh ya, it was on the funnypages from a grade school friend. Tonight is Baked fish and veggie foil packets with a new dressing I picked up on sale 'Mango Chipoltle'. Mango slices on the side.
  6. Great News! I don't wish you another scare, but as with your Mom...this may not be the last lump or bump that needs to be investigated. The first one was really scary for my sis and others I know with this issue... now it's.....oh well, another lump. Just always investigate them! Thanks for sharing the good report
  7. Great! and I do think Bone or Regular Broth are excellent food choices for those struggling to heal
  8. Hi! Not sure I was clear. The GAPs protocol has helped many with digestive problems. Since you have mentioned having issues with many foods as well as ongoings symptoms....I think bone broth and /or regular homemade broth will be easy on your system, but would not expect its use to heal your gut. Only time along with avoidance of all items that irritate...
  9. Gotcha. My celiac doctor ran these at Dx and now my primary orders them annually: B1 B2 B6 B12 D K iron ferritin copper and zinc. Also a CMP (comprehensive Metobolic panel) has additional vit&minerals. I rarely make full bone broth anymore...I just simmer whatever bones I have for a really long time....I've always made turkey and chicken soup...
  10. You do indeed need follow up antibody tests. A complete panel should be run at 3-6 month intervals until all are in normal range, then annually thereafter. If they haven't run nutrients on you...you should request those immediately. Many of us need specific supplementation until we are properly absorbing nutrients again. I failed GAPS because of histamine...
  11. Hmmm never tried a flea comb.,.will check it out..thanks. We have been on trails all over the western states plus BC and never had issue...that is why we are frustrated..first year advantage ever failed.
  12. Your symptoms are consistent with celiac. Sometimes meaning is lost verbally. I strongly recommend requesting copies of both the procedural and pathology reports from the endoscopy....along with any and all blood work. If you post the results here...many of us can interpret them for you. And ya, my gut says celiac...do all you can to remove gluten from...
  13. Yep...made them like I make meatloaf...egg, breadcrumbs salt pepper herbs onion. The ground pork and sausage was a new twist and very good.
  14. Italian snuck in here as well.... Temporary reprieve on humidity helped me get the kitchen back in order. Half ground pork half Italian sausage mixed up like meatloaf...then had one of the guys spoon into mini muffin tins so I could bake in the toaster oven. Found fettuccini noodles deep in the pasta cabinet...so those with pasta sauce and the...
  15. Received an email today announcing Celiac Disease Foundation's Advocacy packages for schools... There are fees for these supplies, but thought it may be a good resource for parents of young kids. Open Original Shared Link
  16. Bummer...didn't catch that you had a bug too. Soup all around..live got some in the freeze.
  17. Yum and welcome back to your internet connection...can you send some Peka to Irish and her hubs...they are feeling a bit peaked Seriously, feel better Irish and hubs...glad you made it home, but time for the bug to leave. Speaking of bugs...Coll's spider is cool....that crawly teeny thing last week was not...perhaps it is because we are dealing with...
  18. I blend garlic gloves with diced green jalapeño peppers, sugar, salt, pepper, milk Blend....add cream...blend again. Favorite ones I add a bunch of fresh cilantro. All my batches are different, but I did send Karen a rough recipe....I'll try and cut and paste it. You can also try the search this thread feature with enchiladas...pretty sure I've posted ...
  19. I've been switching the family to all glassware. We still utilize some plastic food storage containers, but never heat in them. Will be happy when we recycle the last of them. I use a lot of mason jars to freeze leftovers and soups now...just leave a little space and leave the lid loose until completely frozen then tighten the lids. Edited to add a...
  20. Got a herd of young men today...going to make KFG garlic enchilada casserole and large salad. FYI...was making a double batch of Betty Crocker choc chip cookie bars for them and ran out of butter....this house never runs out of butter...anyway I subbed coconut oil...they turned out fine. Also had half a bag of brownie mix I threw in to add more chocolate
  21. Family are entitled to adjustment frustrations just as we are. My hubs is very supportive...doesn't mean he instantly said let's make our house gluten-free.....although he was the one to suggest it eventually. As for dressing...there are individual packages at some fast food places...I used to ask for two or three when we ordered baked potatoes and chili...
  22. Just because I have issues, does not mean you will. I'm still full of hope...I'll lend you some
  23. Yep...thanks for the giggle
  24. I'm grumpy...no real reason just in a foul mood. Tomorrow will be better. Dinner is Baked Chicken with Parmesan Garlic Pasta and Broccoli Almost forgot....Welcome Home Irish and hubs!!!
  25. No one in my family has ever had a problem with BRM...six of us have been using these products for over five years.
