  1. He is supposed to be screened for celiac every few years. Open Original Shared Link autoimmune disease. The prevalence of celiac disease in 1st-degree relatives (children, parents, siblings) has been reported by numerous studies around the world to be significantly higher than in the general population, hence the need to screen every...
  2. I agree with Gemini. While it is always best to concentrate on good healthy foods, sometimes you need a cupcake! Breads -like Canyon makes- are not unhealthy. You will probably not find a spongy, white, Wonder bread type of gluten-free bread. The ones that taste the most like "real" bread are the whole grain types. They are more like a "whole wheat...
  3. If I buy grocery store bread, I get Canyon Bakehouse 7 grain. I usually get my bread from a local gluten-free bakery. You might see if you have one near you
  4. I think the simple answer to the questions is - yes. anyone can be allergic or intolerant to any food. So someone with or without Celiac can have an issue with casein.
  5. I eat it. They have always done a good job with the Chex cereals.
  6. Here is some starting tips. The website I gave you a link to is good for info. they say not to worry about products that are not ingested. Gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin
  7. Please know that the TTg tests are not for "gluten intolerance" They are for Celiac. YOu need to eat gluten for further testing. Celiac disease is a serious disease and can cause osteoporosis as you have seen. Please don't take this casually. the bone loss may have nothing to do with your messed up knee. But Celiac can cause a lot of other issues, too...
  8. You have Celiac, you need to eat gluten free all the time - not just "try". I am guessing the doctor didn't give you any help with it? Did they refer you to a GI doctor?
  9. There are no rules that regulate where groceries put things. Should they put stuff that doesn't at least claim to be gluten-free in a gluten-free section? Probably not. I would ask them why the canned veggies and the produce and meat aren't in the gluten-free section? They have no gluten ingredients.
  10. Actually "flour" is not a common ingredient in soy sauce. Accusing a manufacturer of "lying" about ingredients is a serious charge. If you actually have proof that this company is not listing ingredients, you should report it to the FDA.
  11. You might check with Lundberg. I don't think they actually grow oats. I think they used oats to help the rice seeds spread nicely when being seeded from an airplane. Not sure if they still do.
  12. You don;t get positive Celiac antibodies for FODMAPS. What does the doctor say? Usually they want you to keep eating gluten until you have your endoscopy.

    ARCHIVED DH...or not?

Just an FYI -Dh on a Celiac forum stands for Dermatitis Herpetiformis, we rarely use Duhrings. lol
  14. People are able to find a very old topic and add to it (bumping it up to current). We need to remember to check the dates and realize that these people from 10 years ago may not respond. Also, remember that product info, ma be even medical info, can change in that amount of time.
  15. Are you sure he didn't eat pizza or a cookie? If you weren't there..... just a thought. And, is this his usual reaction to gluten? Do you really know that it is from gluten..... I mean...positive he got some gluten and this happens? For example - I realized after I ate something that it wasn't what I thought it was.... so I know my reaction from gluten...

  18. I clicked it and got re-directed to c.com but this time I got the article. I shouldn't copy the whole thing but here is the conclusion - "In conclusion, in the right clinical setting, symptomatic celiac disease is treatable, but we do not recommend population screening. Further data on the clinical impact of a glutenfree diet on the microbiome and...
  19. The info in this thread is at least 6 years old. Products change over time so it is a good idea to re-check ingredients before eating.
  20. First, you are responding to an over 10 year old topic. Ingredients change over time. Second from your own link - they clearly state that they DO NOT contain wheat. LifeSavers Mints Wint O Green - 41 Oz Bag ...

  22. I use them, too.
  23. I wish they didn't use " gluten" as a headline. People abuse and starve children for a variety of " reasons". gluten-free was just one they picked, it could have been paleo or kosher or whatever...
  24. Ugh! This again..... first ...it was one person...not a study... just someone's speculation. if I am remembering correctly - no one actually tested the retainer. The kid was a 12-16 yr old an drew could have gotten caught eating gluten, etc, etc, etc. And then those internet folks who love to spread " bad news" or use that stuff to further their...
  25. That is a very odd test. Wouldn't it say what it was in tap water you are supposedly allergic to? Like Flouride? I would be wary of these results. Food allergy testing is a bit iffy, even with an MD. Open Original Shared Link
